Hey folks, it's been a long time since I've frequented but I'm back We've just started building 3 units in Nollamara WA and we've just put the slabs down. Does anyone know of a reputable firm who preforms building inspections before I pay the first progress payment? Looking for someone to inspect each stage prior to progress payment. many thanks Dave
Resicert. Have used them for pre purchase inspections and handover inspections. Very good and reasonably priced. Cheers
Hi HD_ACE, thanks for the contact. I contacted the local agent yesterday, they don't do progress payment type inspections, only pre handover. Anyone else know of anyone? Thanks Dave
From reading the different forums on the internet. It is essential to conduct independent pre inspection at various stages of the build. 1. After stab to inspect foundation 2. After frames are put in and before roof and gyprocking 3. Before lock out and handover there may be many more inspections but you will need to speak to building inspector or surveyor or consultant.
Make sure whoever does the sign off on each step of the process (preferably a certified body) is not known to the builder, plumber, electrician etc. Keeps everything above board and legit.
I just received a quote from SHS Building Inspections, he wants $465 per progress stage. Does that seem reasonable? I think it seems fine as he charges this for 1 house inspection but he's using this fee for our entire development. Anyone dealt with this company before?
Hi Daveh, I used Jay from http://www.jdbuildinspections.com/ for practical completion of my 3 units in Balga. He charged me 1320$ including gst. Very happy with his detailed and thorough report. Rooky.
