    Hi,
I am in the process of buying a property that is approximately built in the 90s in Logan. However, a search shows that there is some building approval issue. Details as below:

Final inspection result: Please note that Council has no record of a final inspection for this approval. However, our records show that certain staged inspections have taken place, as follows:-

    Frame Inspection: approved
    Footing inspection: approved

Slab inspection: not approved. Outstanding items:
    1. Engineer certificate received
    2. Poison certificate required

Just want to get some advice. Is this kind of "not approved" stuff a common issue in Logan? Is there any way to rectify this approval issue and the cost? What is the risk of buying a property like this?

    Thanks

I have had no experience in this situation, but know some that have.

Non compliance can be very expensive to fix and, once bought to the authorities notice (such as via an inquiry regarding sale), they do like it to be fixed/demolished/retrospective approved if visible access available etc

As far as I’m aware title insurance wouldn’t cover it since it was known BEFORE the purchase

Thanks for your reply. It sounds very scary since the unapproved slab could mean demolishing the whole house as it is the base? I wonder how a house could be built without being fully approved...
