we are about to buy a new home. It is ready built and recently completed. The real estate has told us we do not need a building and pest inspection as there is 10 year termimesh warranty and 50 year structural warranty. He has said approx 1 person in 100 would get an inspection done in our situation. We are still unsure whether to get an inspection for peace of mind or is it a waste of $500? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

Often the warranty on termite protection depends on regular inspections!

    Also the Termimesh website says

'Note: Termite barriers are designed to deter concealed access by termites. Termites can bridge any type of barrier and ongoing inspections are an important component of minimising the risk of termite attack.

Also, what if the termimesh etc was badly installed?

WoW? wonder what the fine print looks like with that.

Personally at this point I'd be more concerned about build quality than termites, an independent building inspector could check the whole place out for you, however getting a quality inspector that gives a toss and will give it a better look over than you could do yourself is another thing.

Would you believe what a REA tells you?
