Good. We've all watched this type of dirty stuff tear other countries apart. Who was that other guy that got the boot over a bottle of wine? Some people say so what it's just a bottle of wine. I say it's reactions like this that should make us the envy of the developed world.

Harsh in what way? She is an atrocious speaker and we have seen unequivocally from tony Abbott how such matters should be handled, remember peter slipper?

She's a disgrace and has rightfully lost her place as speaker. Imo that isn't enough

Peolple think it was just a heli ride.
No it is a fraudulent use of taxpayers money.
These poli's take their positions for granted and flaunt our money for their own benefit.

Put them all on minimum wage or $50-$65k pa and see how things change..

I really dislike the current government under Abbott, so I voted "nothing".

Now that she has, I hope criminal charges can be laid. She has charged me to fly to events to raise money for her friends? How can that possibly not be considered a misuse of tax funds?

my opinion is that there are about a million issues which are more important, that probably understates it. Should she have done it? No. Does it deserve the circus? Absolutely not. Completely ridiculous amount of attention & energy has gone into his. If only we could be confident they would now get on with running the country. But of course they won't, much easier to find some other insignificance to carry on about.

I agree. There is a huge who gives a damn here. Typical of shorten to keep going on about it. Abbot did something similar when Labor was in power. They are all the same...

Go and see what corruption has done to counties like China and India. It wouldn't surprise me if it's at the root of most of those "million issues" you speak of. I never want to see that happen here and we should nip it in the bud. I don't think this has been overblown at all.

As I said we should see it as an enormous source of pride that others might see this as overblown. I had some Indian colleagues say to me "this is nothing, you should see what officials get away with back home" and I'm thinking...is this really a ******* contest you want to win?

What is more important than integrity of your government??? We cant be confident that they can govern or not squander funds . When does stealing not become alright? I suppose this stuff wasn't important for Greece either.

She made it worse for herself due to her performance as speaker. I don't think a single government member ever got censured. So much for the impartiality of the role. By treating the opposition with such contempt she had a target on her back.

If it had just been the once I would've thought it wasn't worth the whole hoopla. But it just kept getting worse.
The apology and the paying back were just for show. How long has it been going on and how many others are doing it too? Who told the media? Someone from the wedding or the fundraiser?
Not a pretty way to go.

Imagine if the time and energy used on this and the goodes circus was put to good use, it would have to power the country for a good while, or save a starving nation
