Hey Gockie, getting there. Still waiting on negotiations for some repairs needed. Reduce price or they fix.
Birkdale's a good spot, nice one!

    Yeah looks fairly extensive
Almost a bit of a pipe dream

But council seem fairly confident of it going ahead

That's the funny thing about Brisbane and it's council structure

Redlands and moreton will push to develop cleveland and redcliffe and make them CBDs because they don't consider themselves part of Brisbane

    Cleveland isn't exactly cheap though

Cleveland with everything it has available to offer in terms of infrastructure, hospital, schools, proximity to bay and islands, and it being an hour to Brisbane CBD "IF" needed...... It's not expensive, it's still good value. Bought a 3 bed house there October 2014 with a 5.7% yield for what I consider to be not much more than land value! There is still good buying to be had in the area, it hasn't moved rapidly yet.

Redlands council need to generate more jobs in Cleveland as the mines on stradbroke are phasing out within in the next 5 years

Does anyone know approx. timeline for the Toondah Harbour redevelopment in Cleveland? Do they intend to finish it in say 5-10 years? From my understanding it's still at early stages of planning.

Are advice for a good PM in that area?

I'm looking at properties in this area at the moment, and have a couple of concerns. Does anyone think/know whether it's an issue living near a sewage treatment plant? If so, how far away from the plant is considered 'safe'?

I would not want to be in a place where I could smell it

Yeah, just was wondering how far out is the safe zone. Never lived near one so don't have anything to go off.

First time posting but I would recommend Living Here Tingalpa - we rented through LH when we first moved to Brisbane's Bayside. They did a good job and certainly have high standards when exiting a property.

Smell test it.......visit the property on a windy day where its blowing from the direction of the treatment plant...if it stinks.....it stinks....if it don't, it don't.

Hard to do if you are buying interstate property though.....

Am up in Birkdale this week visiting my parents and have been checking out what's going on. Every time I come up I notice some new construction or renovation that wasn't there last time, the place is slowly starting to evolve as some very old and tired houses are being done up or replaced in the particular streets that I have kept an interest in. The stroll along the bay walking tracks is always soothing.

Look to buy... get in sooner rather than later! Old affordable houses are becoming fewer and fewer... at some point only really nice houses will be in the area.
