I agree historically regarding the booms. My feeling is that this time around it will be much more sustained and stable. So much positive longer term stuff in the pipeline and the Games will produce a lasting "halo effect" I believe.

I'm not sure what the pay is for construction labourers is but I would think 2k a week would likely be feasible (and a much nicer lifestyle also).

I think so yes, if you buy the right type of property (ie house our lowrise unit in good location) and stay away from mass high rise.

I'll reply to this in more detail soon. I agree Stones Corner is a good place to buy for sure.

Correct. I would fully agree with this rationale.
Stones Corner will do well..but so will like for like areas in all of Brisbane.

We ended up buying a dual occ in the outer ring of Brisbane back in March 2016. Tennants are always at each other but there's been 0 vacancy so far and I have a new property manager who doesn't entertain the tit-for-tat bickering.

I ended up with one in the north in Moreton bay council area..... 250m stroll to the beach at the end of the street! Settled 12 days ago, flat land, great block, next gen zoned.

This is in addition to the home in beautiful Birkdale (Redlands) that I bought 18 months ago, bay views. One of the apps show a higher estimated sell price for that. Not unhappy about that.
So I have a foot in the north, and one in the south. Neither of them inner. I really like those areas though.

I think MBRC allows GF beginning of 2016 when the new planning was adapted. The size of GF is dependent, and is not fixed on one size..

A good construction labourer would more likely earn $1k a week in a metro area. A qualified carpenter perhaps $2k a week.

    Northside, 20kms from the CBD.

Would like to purchase again now but house renos and getting the unit attached our house stripped, damp proofed, kitchen and bathroom will take all my time (as well as 4 kids and the 2nd job I am praying I will get on Friday!)

last time i read the MBRC planning, it was based on road hierarchy and the zone its in. It could range have minimum of 45m2 to sometime bigger. if 45m2 you can really have 1 bedroom

Logan has 70-100m2 depending size of land
Ipwich started of something big but scaled down to I think 50m2?

Interesting that it is road hierarchy not size of land. Plenty of big blocks in MBRC area.
