If I have 4 unrelated parties and a married couple (6 people in total), is this still considered 5 unrelated parties?

Why if the 5th and 6th person was a mother and child? Is the child considered as part of the his since their name never even touched the rental agreement?

I'm guessing for putting five unrelated parties onto a lease? I don't know the answer though.

By your argument you could put 5 couples in together?
    I don't think so.....

I can't answer for BCC but we have a 5 unrelated parties limit in Perth as well and yes a married couple, defacto couple, mother & child would be counted as 1.

    So you could have:
4 individual not blood or legally related people plus
    defacto couple
    or
    husband wife
    or
    parent + children
    or
cousin + cousin (but this is probably going too far)
    or
    adult siblings

There would probably be a practical limit on this but if it was a 6 bedroom house for example you could fill the 6 bedrooms legally with this method.

I had a dwelling that housed new immigrants and potentially had family per room (4 bedrooms) in bunks which was reported to local council. The lease was to a Mission who helped house the immigrants/refugees until they could find long term housing. I was aware that on occassion all rooms would be full and it would be a lot of people living there but numbers did fluctuate. It was reported by neighbours, to Council that too many people were living there and they went out and assessed and said it was fine.

A lot depends on the council.

BCC is notoriously strict in enforcing the " 5 unrelated parties" limit as well as granny flat restrictions. If caught doing the wrong thing they WILL take you to court. And most neighbours will be fully aware......
