That no tax was paid on the profits because some favours segments in the population get tax free status.

The impact would have been minimal imo, but we'll never know because the population is too **** scared of change even though it's needed. Comfortable and stupid is how the LNP want us :/

I certainly didn't see this coming.
Labor had some nice policies in regards to health and education, but some of their other policies seemed a little off. It was like they tried for too much.

Plus the leader, Billie S, just seems like a very odd individual. It's like he's a POD person. Sure it shouldn't matter, but it does. It was all just too fake. As apposed to Scottie M, who doesn't seem to care and is who he is.

But I think what really happened in QLD is that many traditional Labor voters got scared their party was being taken over by the far left and decided to vote independent which meant a vote for the Libs in most cases.

We saw the exact same thing in the American election last time. The rust belt was totally ignored by the Dems for almost 20 years and they finally got jack of it.

Back in the day, my best mate studied political science, he got in with the Labor crowd and used to go to their parties. Now I'm sure the Liberal parties were the same, but he said at the time that in about 20 years the Labor leaders of our country would be massive freaks. That some of the crap that went on at these parties was insane. They earmarked my mate but he became disillusioned with how they worked and wanted nothing to do with them or politics and moved into a totally different field.

He did say that the bloke from Rankin (I think) who would have been Treasurer is a really decent, smart guy and would make a good PM one day.

If only the late, great Wayne Goss were still with us, to give this country a politician it needed.

The following quotes from Winston S. Churchill come to mind:

“I contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle.”

“Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.”

Your obviously extremely smart and the rest of the Liberal base is delusional and has such low aptitude.

Assuming your smarter than the electorate is offensive.
I spent 3 days just now at Primex(Agricultural event) an event in Qld that attracts 10s of thousands.
The Anti Labor mood was prominent . People there detested Shorten and feared him getting in.
They were worried about his Leftest green agenda.
They didn't want him any where bear the lodge and felt he didn't speak for the greater Queensland constituents.

It was than I realised(light bulb moment) Labor will loose this election and Qld is swinging.

I suggest respecting the will of the people and not assuming their lack of aptitude.

Actually I think that is a very valid point. It also ties in with the comment I saw last night along the lines of:
I’ve actually voted for Labor a couple of times in my life but the strong left Influence on current Labor and Unions would have still stopped me from voting for them even if I wasn’t Impacted by franking credit policy etc.

Don't they pay at their own MRT and get a credit for tax paid by the companies?

If I have to choose between greedy and lazy, I'll pick greedy every time. Sorry, but ALP seemed like the party of the lazy people.

That is why BS is RS. His greedy tax grab would have destroyed investment and employment and the future and aspiration of the next generation. You cant have a prosperous country when greedy governments destroy investment incentive and earning capacity as every socialist government has demonstrated.

Yes. The result is that the franking credit reduces the tax they would pay without the franking credit.

I hate stamp duty - but sadly it's a State tax, and a major source of direct income ($13.8bil for NSW in 2018), so can't see it being dropped any time soon.

Pity - I reckon, over the years, I've paid around half a mil in stamp duty and agents selling fees

Stamp duty in the ACT is being phased out - and rates are being raised substantially to compensate. People who bought when stamp duty was high have been hit a double whammy.

I look forward to the day when tenants pay local council rates.

To me, it doesn’t make sense to the landlord to pay the rates and the tenants have the right to vote in the local government elections.

    I know, I am dreaming ...
