Earlier this year, one of the hotplates on my stove died. Mr Angel doesn't pay a professional when he can fix something himself, so $500 later for parts, the new hotplate and new switch still keep blowing the electrical safety switch outside. "Call a specialist" I chime when he drops me at work. Three months later the hotplate is still inoperable and other switches occasionally turn themselves off when I walk past the stove on the bouncy timber floor. (I think he needs to do something to the floor like he used to when it was first settling)

"Buy a new stove" would be the initial solution, but Boris the Bosch is only 8 years old and cost about $2300 new.

Your comments please on my predicament.
Replacing the husband is not an option.

Time to upgrade to Hubby 2.0

The tech fixes with this update include:
    • disabling the inclination to DIY
    • Longer arms and shorter pockets (not the other way around - that's SNM)
    • Obedience training/responds to commands
    • Hearing improvements
    • Inbuilt calendar to forget important dates

Learn the lesson on Bosch? Often the expensive euro brand-names look pretty, but are not long-lasting.

Buy a different brand and don't look back.

Appeal to his emotions instead of his head and you may get the change you want.

Most reasonable guys are a lot more willing to fold when a woman appeals to their hearts rather than their heads. And a couple of tears for good measure cant hurt either.

Call a specialist, and on the day they are to arrive, send Hubby out to do some errands. :D

The girls use that strategy on us all the time. It's only fair we give back their medicine from time to time :D

Sounds like you need a sparky and there is something electrical going on which is unhappy. The fact that you can do it by walking past is impressive - these other switches are they oven switches or other electrical point switches?
You could try putting the oven (I'm assuming freestanding) on an 18mm thick piece of MDF to help with floor bounce.

To be reasonable could suggest a whole new kitchen is required if the oven can’t be fixed by xx date or specialist.
Then Husband error code may magically fix itself :)

Spend $1300 and get an induction cooktop. And also pay for a sparky to install it. And to check the surrounding circuit

... but it sounds like a free standing cooker with oven below and hotplates above, on legs. Is that correct @Angel ?

Ahhh good point,. I was imagining it was two separate pieces.

This is exactly why it's good to have the cooktop separate from the oven. Less to replace when. One breaks down

Back when I bought the bosch - I went for the self-cleaning oven but at the time I had never heard of an induction hotplate. Can I use my Amway stainless steel cookware on induction? You will understand why I have not asked this question to the Amway company itself. I believe the person who sold it to me has died of old age.

If a magnet will stick to the base of the cookware, you can use it on an induction cooktop.
