I read a lot of "light" books that are not life changing ... but if I had to pick a couple over the years they would be:

Rich Dad Poor Dad ... it gave me the initial eureka moment of how cashflow actually worked
Rise of the Creative Class ... must read it again actually
Back from the Brink ... for those with an interest in the land

... also really love my design magazines (house and garden, home beautiful) for renovation ideas

I like biographies and history/ old stuff. Two favourites 'Somme Mud' and 'A fortunate life'.

Both of these put my life into perspective.

I'd say 1984 by George Orwell for several reasons. It was the first book that I read in high school that really made me think about literature as something to enjoy, also ever since reading it that first time it inspired me to write my own book. Brave New World was another one that I particularly enjoyed and changed my perspective on classic literature.

I haven't got many words on paper for my own book yet, but I think about the plot lines quite often and the book is pretty much written in my head. It will be a best seller when I finally collect my thoughts and create my masterpiece(!!).

There are several. However to name a few:

You'll See It When You Believe It by Dr. Wayne Dyer
You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay
The Road Less Travelled by Dr. Scott Peck
When Society Becomes an Addict by Prof Anne Wilson Schaef
Your Body Doesn't Lie by Dr. John Diamond
Power vs. Force, The Hidden Determinants of Human Behaviour by Dr. David R. Hawkins
Man's Search for Meaning by Dr. Vicktor R. Frankl
The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle
Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki
The Richest Man in Babylon by George Clason
Slight Edge by Jeff Olson (more recently)

I'm a huge fan of Jim Rohn as well and mostly listened to his audios.

I will need to check my list at home :) But these are what I remember so they clearly left a mark

I can relate to things like this. Some of the biggest influencing texts I've read have been bland non fiction/studies which have changed my understanding of the world. Locke, Rousseau, Friedman all played their helpful parts.
