    Yep. PC discount.

For one to proceed with surgery, one returns a signed Informed Financial Consent. In this, the fees are outlined including your insurance rebate, and your out of pocket. The anaesthetist fees are available through their office, well before the operation. The assistant gets usually 20% of the surgeon fee. Many operations cannot be done by a sole surgeon. If you get two surgeons for your operation, as opposed to one surgeon and one assistant, then count yourself lucky.

I still laughed at the OP.

And if people are charging $2800 gaps for something like a knee arthroscopy, then I need to upgrade my fees. I don't get paid that for even major cancer surgery where I have to see the patient daily for up to weeks afterwards.

You've seen my car, it ain't a porsche.

Glad to hear it fixed your knee though. This was the giveaway that this is a nonsensical post.

That's just plain rude. If you don't wish to pay, go elsewhere.

There's a real simple fix for that. Don't read Off Topic threads. Off Topic is here for peeps that want to talk non-property related stuff. If you don't like it, don't read it. It's not rocket science.

You need to find surgeons that don't charge a gap, my recent bowel resect surgery cost me $250, the surgery was all covered by the health fund. The place I went was like a hospital, the place had a gap of $50 per day where I was staying and that is all I paid, $250 for the entire 5 days, in return I got a top surgeon operate on me for 5 hours (3 hour surgery but he spent extra time on me to try and not give me a colostomy bag, in the end it was unavoidable but I get it reversed in about 10 weeks Yay :)), I had 3 nurses at my beck and call 24 hours a day, I had amazing views from my room and was waited on hand and foot (although this last part I didn't use much, I wanted to be up asap and doing everything for myself to heal quickly both physically and mentally).

The place I went to was called HSS (Hospital for Specialist Surgeries) and the owners are building a place filled with docs who don't charge a gap, I think this place will do very well :).

Like anything in life, you have to do your research up front and increase your knowledge before making a decision. You wouldn't invest in property without doing your research, why would you invest in your health blindly?

Thanks mate, you certainly will :). I live a grand total of about 2 or 3 KM's from Wenty leagues so should be there for one of the meet ups soon :).

We are so close to the end now, it should be about 11 weeks until the reversal surgery then this ordeal is over, Finances are being organised now so literally the day I come out of hospital I can be in a position to buy. I'm so excited and this investment carrot being dangled in front of me along with the well wishes of people like yourself, Xenia, Steven, Tyrone and so many more on here and Facebook (my posts on Facebook are literally littered with well wishes and prayers) is what keeps me positive and gets me through, I am constantly amazed at how many people who have never even met me offer their wishes and for those of faith, their personal prayer time.

The collective love of the human race never ceases to amaze and inspire me :).

I'm sitting at the hospital right now waiting for our son to come out of surgery. Last time he was here he had three operations, was in an induced coma in ICU for a week and we nearly lost him twice.

No way would I be without full hospital cover. He would have been looked after just as well in the public system but elective surgery can be booked to suit circumstances and no waiting on a list.

I went to emergency in Geraldton for chest pains. I was freaking out because I thought I was having a heart attack. By the time they took my blood pressure, it was so high it almost broke the machine. They told me to calm down. lol

Too noisy! It was not the environment for a chillax but I did my best. Every time I got too relaxed, heart rate nice and low, blood pressure going down, feeling ok, a stupid alarm went off on my machine and put my heart rate and blood pressure back up. This was continual monitoring so I was doing something that upset it. Anyway, I couldn't wait to get out of there so I willed my blood pressure down until they released me :D

    Hi Dan

So glad you liked the new HSS and the service you got there - the views are pretty amazing aren't they, from some of the wards?! I do hope the rest of your recovery goes well and you hold onto your positive outlook. Take care :)
