I am too - I think a black sink, with stainless tap, would've lifted the setup above ordinary. Is it too late to change?

I am assuming your stainless oven has black bits on it, so would've tied in really classy.

Personally - we've gone black engineered stone (with a snakeskin effect) with a white ceramic double butlers sinks and black tapware. Looks amazing

For those interested in black sinks I came across one in budget plumbing centre in Belmont on the weekend, brand is Oliver I. Price was $875 which I thought was pretty good, made of 80% granite and 20% composite, the usual scratch resistant etc. The one my folks have is now 2 years old and still looks brand new, can't remember the brand though.

The kitchen is only half built - so I'll wait until it's finished before posting ... in the meantime ... here's the photo of the commissioned pendant lights over the 2400 x 2600 island bench :)

Not bad. I like Oliveri - we ended up picking them for our sinks in the kitchen and laundry.

Forget about this black nonsense - Copper now is all the rage. I couldnt bring myself to spend a couple thousand just on sinks though. :O

I prefer black - I wonder if the copper will go green?

That is basically what all these trends are, new "old" ways to get people to pay more or pay again.

    Found a couple more...

If you havent actually purchased /paid for the benchtop yet, might want to look at Laminam. Granite, like any natural stone, is porous and no matter what anyone tells you, it will stain the minute you spill coffee or wine etc. Laminam looks every bit as good as marble or granite but is completely stain proof as its a non porous hardened porcelain. Another option is Neolith.

It had to be granite @euro73 but it's galaxy black so at least it won't stain. I'm pro composite stone but hubby is not so he got the island and I got custody of the rest of the kitchen

After much back and forth, we're about to rip our kitchen out and have chosen this sink -
    Link
    And this mixer.
    Link
Bench top will be Ceasarstone in Fresh Concrete, with cabinets inspired by this kitchen -
    [IMG]
Back wall will be very similar, and front won't have the seating but will have the white top and timber cabinets - pretty much all drawers. Also doing a white herringbone splashback behind the cooktop.

It has the black which I just love but also enough timber and white to not be out of character for the house. I just needed to un-beach the beach house a little, but not too much. :)
