Nah, according to the news, if you had purchased in Melb in 2014/15, they'd be worth nothing by now

Did something similar. Back then the general yield for Melbourne will not work for my criteria (though CG would have!)

I've always wondered about the term "villa" in South East Asia especially resorts they are generally referred to as bigger style accommodation like houses in the West with a pool.

I think in Victoria we don't use the term at all! :)

We live in apartments, units, townhouses (2 story units), or houses (ok, so I left out cabins, caravans etc)....

Villa's is a common description in Victoria, refers to a strata titled single level unit.

I've owned a number of these, below is a typical example.

7/125-127 Thomas Street, Hampton, Vic 3188

    7/125-127 Thomas Street, Hampton
Unexpectedly spacious and enviably quiet, this tastefully renovated, two bedroom villa is a light-filled sanctuary,

I live in a Torrens Titled villa here in Yamba. Single level, 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom, large garage, small yard. Absolutely perfect for me. Only 2 on the block. The other, is 1 of my IP's rented to an elderly (late 70's) couple. So the LL living next door scenario.

To be really honest me too.

But then again this FOMO and travelling has really only come about in the last 10 years or so.

Not taking advantage of the $100k/year and other limits for super before the govt clamped down on it. 14% returns foregone.

That's why I didn't mention buying one in Gladstone in 2012 and not selling it until 2016
