I know this doesn't help you guys and you are awesome for doing what you are doing but I have lost 16kg just from stressful things in my life eg: breakdown of 24 year marriage, investment losses......guess there is a plus side to everything as I feel amazing....highly recommend it:D

That's great! (the weight loss, not the circumstances)

As a tip, I recommend a strategy to keep it off. My best effort was deliberately dropping from over 120kg to under 90kg over a couple of years. Unfortunately, I got slack and put some back. Not too much but I am sorry I did.

I didn't really develop a good strategy to keep it off.

Anyway, I have run into a bit of a problem. I really only just want to walk regularly in the morning and afternoon for my main exercise. My problem is when I get out of bed in the morning it feels like the bottom of my heel is bruised. It's quite painful to walk. I have tried rolling my feet very firmly with a spiky ball, which did seem to help somewhat.

I don't know what is causing this problem but suspects are:- my walking shoes, my work shoes, tight calf muscles or a combination of all of these. Of concern is that recently I spent 5 days sick in bed/on the couch. I didn't wear shoes and didn't walk around much at all. I didn't even leave the house. My feet were not a lot less sore at the end of 5 days of no walking.

Not sure what the issue is. I have not had this before. I just find it a nuisance that I can't even walk much now. :(

Could be plantar fasciitis Especially if it is worse in the morning.

If so, treatment is usually to roll your foot on a bottle of frozen water, to do calf raises and to use heel cups and/ or soft gel inserts.

With the heel cups/ inserts, you might have to try a few before you get the ones that work.

Sounds like plantar fasciitis, very common, orthotics worked miracles for me. See a good podiatrist.

    That's no good.
People seem to lose weight when they're on drugs too. Not recommended.

Sounds like it could be. Wooking on WebMD, I see 2 red flags:-
Plantar fasciitis is caused by straining the ligament that supports your arch ... This is more likely to happen if:
    • You wear shoes that don't fit well or are worn out.
    • You have tight Achilles tendons or calf muscles.
My shoes are worn out and my calf muscles are tight. I should probably try wearing new shoes and addressing the tight calf muscles before looking at anything more agressive. Thanks.

I get a bit of this lately.
But more like the middle of the foot, at the bottom.
    Strange feeling.

You can do the ice thing right now. Also, intermittently, use your thumb to massage along the outer side of your foot anddiagonally from heel to ball of foot. It really works. And some Blackmores pain relief cream or similar. And start wearing good shoes. Time to give up the heels.

Yes, good idea, give it a go, as time goes on the arches tend to drop and the strain on the tendon results in micro tears that never quite heal, so the arch needs some support. If your first solutions don't work you could try over the counter inserts, and last and most expensive, especially if you don't have private health cover, would be custom made orthotics, which in my case were worth every cent.

Thanks for the advice. New shoes seems to have done the trick. I wore new shoes walking to work this morning and felt zero pain or discomfort. I just need to work on my tight calf muscles now, which have been an issue for years.

I was wearing good shoes, they were just worn out a bit. The new ones are exactly the same... except new! Perfect for my feet. :)

I need some good shoes now too.
You might want to give yoga a go - especially if you like leeeean muscle.
