Similar for me, I moved from Canbrrr to Brisbane. Couldn't move back to Canberra, don't even want to visit in Winter.

@Coota9 - that'll do but Mt Hotham, Anglers Rest or anywhere in between will do.

Brsbane or Seq has the best weather to amenity combo imo. Cairns is nice in winter but not much to do. Unless you are used to small towns.
Culturally I would prefer to live in Sydney but the winter is hardcore in comparison.
My goal would be to live in Sydney for summer. Qld in winter. Somehow I will find a way....

@Gockie if you friend has fair skin he may actually not be as bad off up north as he thinks there is more ozone less uv the further north you go. Cairns and darwin sun is hot but takes a while to burn. Sydbey sun burns quicker and my torres strait islander friend was surprised to get sunburned in nz. Nz sun stings.

I've lived in all these places I refer to.

Can get just as sticky at the GC as it does in Cairns.
    Not as often obviously.

It's still sunny and lovely and warm here SNMs. Took the moto over to Mansfield and the mountains last weekend and was out walking near Wandiligong the other day. I think we'll probably keep a base around this area because I love the coast, but every time I head down there it's raining. This place has a lot going for it.

    @ellejay

Spent much of my summertime in my youth camping in the Jamieson/Big River area with my parents around Christmas time etc and love the area..

Later on in my teens I graduated to the Kevington area..especially the Kevington Pub ;);)

Im into family history - many generations of my family lived in Wandiligong from the 1850's onwards. Its a beautiful area. The crossing just after you go through town is named after.my ggg grandmother.

Wow, really that's amazing about the crossing. Yes, I love it there. You'll have to give me a shout if you're ever coming out this way, would be great to catch up.

I'd rather die freezing than burn to death. To each his own i'd say. :)

Queensland gets to humid for me as does Nth Coast NSW.
The Hunter region always seems to be flooding.
    Sydney is too busy.
Canberra and Melbourne are too cold.
I think that just leaves Woolongong. I will have to go there one day and check it out.

Mt Druitt. That's where the sun shines.

I'll just pick this pen up off the floor.

For those that think Brisbane is too hot - there are plenty of places similar to mid to North NSW with better weather that are on the coast North of Brisbane with the nice ocean breezes.

Hervey bay is the third highest unemployment area in australia (bundy, hervey bay, maryborough). Unless u have a job dont move here as work is very hard to get unless youre in medical field, then heaps of work in the medical field.
