    Hi folks, I won't be giving out details of contacts to people I don't know anymore. There was an unfortunate instance where one of my recommended tradies did the work and at the end the person had a whole sob story of why they couldn't afford to pay . Reflects badly on me. So i wont be giving out details anymore unless your a long time member on the forum and I 'know' you.

    Nope. But i do give him alot of work so that may be a factor. But others who I've sent to him reported back he was very fair with pricing. Not out to gouge folks. Dont see that much at all these days.

    Hi @Sackie, since he is a reasonable handyman no one should be giving weird stories to avoid paying for a good job. Could I get his contact for an assessment and quotation, please?
    Need to do some fixing around the shed and to put concrete garden edge + foot paths

    Hi Sackie

    Sorry for digging an old topic. Wondering if you can share the trade contact above to my PM.

    @Sackie,
    You gave me some great advice regarding buying a property with risk of overland flow earlier this year - don't do it. Would love to have a reliable handyman's contact details. The man my parents used for everything retired a few years ago. I never got to take advantage of his skills, work ethic and integrity as we only bought our first home this year. Hoping I can find someone we can trust.

    @Sackie doesn’t spend much/any time on PC these days.

    They are too busy making their millions on other forms of investing ;)

    What I find with most tradesmen I send repeat business to is that eventually, the price gets jacked up - once they realise you have multiple properties, they just cant help themselves.

    Hence why I have to spread the love and keep finding new tradesmen. You'd think they'd repay your loyalty with mates rates, but you get the opposite.

    We've had that happen over the years too. We had a plumber we would call without asking for quotes. He took advantage of us, slowly jacking up the prices until eventually we said "enough".

    We have been calling a great plumber for at least the past ten years now, who is also a friend and our kids went to school together. Funnily enough, we used not to call him for work, because we knew he was busy, but also because we never wanted him to think we expected "mates rates". It was silly really. Our "professional" relationship is separate to our friendship. And we know he will never rip us off. His pricing is fair and we don't ask for, or expect, mates rates. But we know we will never be taken advantage of either.

    I've also had the same thing happen in the past so I now get on Hipages when I've got a job. These guys seem more hungry for work, respond quickly and I get more competitive quotes through this platform. Airtasker is also ok for menial type work like rubbish removal, just make sure you communicate exactly what needs to be done and include photos. Also check their ratings and past history

    So basically this handyman has probably been hammered with calls from PC people and is now charging premium rates lol.
