I've attempted to paint over the dark grout in a shower and it looks terrible. The floor most of all. Any tips on how to remove?

It might not be as bad as you think. If you post some photos we might be able to make an alternative suggestion.

I've since been able to scrap off the paint from the tiles on the wall and not as bad. But the floor is still the main problem.

Maybe alcohol solvent will remove the grout paint

Bound to be something at a paint shop or tile supplier that will sort it out.

Is it a water based paint? If so it will just wash off.

No it's been there for awhile now. It's not going anywhere.

I think this might be the best option if anyone has any objections? I will ask at a tile store too.

Looking at the photos on my big screen, I'd scrape the floor grout out a little, and regrout. It is not a big job.

Is it the bits that are running outside the grout lines you are trying to remove?

Its a bit hard to see the detail of the photos. The white grout lines look like an improvement on the dark grout (without being able to see the detail).

The grout should be removed using a grout removal tool but take care and dont use a diamond chipped tool as it will destroy tile edges. Then find a full grout replacement for FLOORS. That paint is not a floor product. Its for wall tiles. To change the grout colour you need to remove most/some of the cement grout and replace. Wall grout is softer marble dust and adhesive but floor grount is cement and sand based and far harder and seals. It may be cheaper and better to engage a tiler to do this to change the ""grout"" to a lighter colour and to reinstate the sealing of it.
