The fan doesn't come on automatically when the lights are turned on in any case, why should the unit melt?

I have to admit I'm a bit lost with where this discussion has gone.

I was referring to the bog standard heated bathroom light:

Been around for years, seen them everywhere. There's a light and a heater side by side. I've never heard of having to keep them separate?

They all have a hard active feed that will engage the fan if the heat lamps are used without it. After around 5 minutes of use the fan will engage to prevent melting. Partially due to how cheap they're made. Old school ones didn't have this feature and relied on quality engineering and common sense. Pulled out a few that have caught fire over the years..

You can certainly go for one of these, I listed a guide price what I would charge for it. They're just a compromise between cost, features and ceiling real-estate.

I see, so you suggest separate heat lamps / lights are the go?

It depends ultimately on your budget. But it gives most chance of having a design that makes most practical and aesthetic sense. Im not familiar with what the current trendy option is, but the IXL Neo (once) sold by reece look great, cost a fair bit and have a terrible fan. They're also a major PITA to install
