The positive lining about crystalising the loss is that you can offset future capital gains... and as other people have said, its great you still have a positive attitude to property investing. Looks like you have gained some wisdom too. :)

Firstly, thank you for being open about your experience and credit to you for staying strong through a difficult time. Just to have a better understanding, is there something in particular that the broker advised on which you feel contributed to your poor investment choice? Did they have a hand in the OTP purchase? Or do you feel they should have warned you about the mining town buys?

You know I really don't blame the broker I think he meant well at the time, I do believe the OTP was a kickback for him but when things started to turn he quickly changed from investment advice to just loans. Having said that I was so eager that I could have bought more than 1 in mining and the broker advised against that thank God!

    Hi Bounce
Love your attitude. Most successful people have made some really bad descisions. It's all part of learning. Set backs are not failiures.

What will you do differently moving forward?

Hi Xenia, who knows moving forward as a lot still has to be sorted out, it helps to have a partner that is as passionate about property as you are although a partner is so far away in the future for me:rolleyes:

Sorry to hear about your losses. I can imagine the relationship hits hurt more than the financial ones.

Great to see you have a positive attitude. Set goals and take it one step at a time, and you'll be back on top in no time :)
