I have just read about this Government Service.

    Australian Death Notification Service

A free government initiative to help people get in touch with multiple organisations using a single online notification.

I haven't used it, but it seems like it may help to simplify some of the routine tasks when acting as an executor.

Could also be a little dangerous. Some banks and financial institutions may suspend accounts and funds pending formalities ahead of a executor if someone like a spouse jumped in early. In principle though seems a good idea. May also have merits so things stop being billed like internet, phone etc.... Appears you still have to indicate who to notify. May need account details. Certainly puts it in one place for many issues.
