No doubt they will show up "when no one is home"....
And will be "available" for pick up at a local Post Office (or collection Centre) outside of hours (even though we have signed a "leave at front door" authorisation !!!!!)

Australia post / star Trek are terrible
Yet I can get bank loan approval to purchase a million dollar property interstate from most banks.................
    The mind boggles

Most times there isn't even an attempted delivery, pre-filled card goes straight into your mailbox.

It's not a perfect solution but I switched to using parcel lockers/post office box to avoid this dilemma. The missed deliveries that is, not the lack of clean sheets. ;)

Yes, I have experience the above but it does seem to come down to the individual delivery driver and their work ethic. Had trouble previously with another regular driver but the current guy (for the last 3 years) seems to be good. Never had a missed delivery card when I have been home.

That being said the system should be improved to weed out the rotten apples so there is consistent service for all.

    Blame the coy.

I know contract drivers. Some get paid peanuts with woeful conditions. They won't attempt delivery and just leave a card to make their job easier.

    Customer loses out.

They have been good to me recently, but there were times they sent my package to WA after being in the right depot in Chullora NSW, or where it just stuck in the depot for a week or loan documents in express that are delivered non-express.

Finally signed up for an account so I can choose my delivery preference. Haven't try though

My guess is they've got the same issue as Spotless, 7-Eleven, etc where profitability is only possible for the people at the bottom of the pyramid by
A: Cutting corners (doing a dodgy job & just flicking not home cards)
    B: Not paying minimum wage

I'm suspicious there is a huge chunk of the retail and minimum wage workforce who are currently getting exploited.

    ^^^^^^^^ spot on !

Underpaid workers are rife in Australia. It happens under the nose of big business , the unions and the government.

True. They should just all their deliveries to the dump.

    Saves time and money.

And just deliver a bunch of cards.

    Update;)
Checked the online tracker this morning
It said, tried to deliver Monday and no one home (i was home all day)
Tried to deliver Tuesday, claimed "no one known at the address"... (other half home all day).
Tracking notes it as "being returned to sender"
So i checked the CCTV, up to an hour each side of the times stated :p.
    No one attended Monday o_O
Tuesday they drove past twice, before stopping to get out and take a photo (i live on a battle axe block, but the pizza guy and ATO can find me ! )
So after negotiating Aust Posts ordinary web site i found the contact link and sent a scathing email o_O
Received my delivery 2 hours later :D
    WOW, its a miracle

I'd say the contractor attempted delivery at a wrong address and that's why it was noted " unknown st address".

They probably then went into a mad panick to find your parcel and deliver it.

I once had a parcel delivered to the wrong address. Luckily the occupants brought it around to my place (they didn't want to be held responsible for the contents of the parcel lol).

You find some amazing things at the dump but they don't like you scavenging.

There are eyes everywhere at Eastern Creek tip. I once tried to secretly dump a car battery in the green section when this craggy old fella appeared out of nowhere and started telling me off.
