Australia only has 2 days fuel supply on hand ... posted this statement a few months ago - am I the only one who worries about this  and the bombing of 2 oil tankers in the middle east with all the consequences?
Keep your fuel tanks full ...

2 days or was it 2 months? There'd be tankers lined up out the heads all the way back to Singapore if that was the case.

It is a worry - US blaming Iran - Iran claiming innocence, had nothing to gain by such an action and are currently hosting the Japanese Prime Minister - belief it was the Saudis trying to force up declining oil prices but also blaming Iran ...

Who was behind the oil tanker attacks

This data is just a couple of years out of date, but the world globally uses about 93 million barrels of crude oil per day. On average, supertankers can hold 2 million barrels of crude oil.

So even if these 2 tankers lost their entire load - it represents less than 5% of a single day's requirements. In the overall scheme of things, I don't think it will be missed.

BUT we all know how the markets (over)react to bad news. There will be some winners & losers but it should not flow thru to the petrol pump (although it probably will).

lol Uhm @balwoges ......and what do you think you are going to be buying at the shops? (eg how did the produce actually get there?)

Personally i think the Straight of hormouz is a big fat fake(eg Tonkin 2.0) but i did want to suggest to people here on PC that even though Australia is a long way away......that being a prepper and having a stash in your house isnt the worst idea in the world you could have.

Although the risk profile of most people in Australia is far lower than here in New York so you dont need to have 30 days food and water - its not a bad investment to consider. (if you want to see how tenuous modern society is....check out a supermarket in the final hours before an east coast blizzard - its hilarious).

Only if you have a fully disconnected off the grid solar/wind system.

Its hilarious when people spend the bare minimum of $10k on solar power and think they are set for life.....and dont realise that when the mains supply goes off line their system also shuts down to protect the linesmen from end-grid power feeds.

Oil Price History Over the Decades

Why the Government Hides Millions of Barrels of Oil in Salt Caverns

With the way political correctness works and the way the media will plays this ..Ijust hope it does not go like in the mid 1970's..

I remember with the mid-70's oil supply crisis, in NZ, you had to nominate a Monday-Friday day that you would not drive your car - and then had to display a sticker with that day on it.

If you drove your car on the nominated "no" day, very heavy fines.

I don't think it got that bad in Australia ,but this time the way oil prices can spike over-night and the way artificial world equity markets work it's anyone's guess..

I'm wondering who gets solar thinking they will be ok if supply is cut off?

We got it to save money, with no thought to still having power if something goes wrong with the mains.

We've got battery and - trust me - when the power goes out due to a line fault, we stay on. Annoys the neighbours like heck ;). So maybe that's only for those who don't have a battery

My neighbour came over the other day and asked if we had lost power - I said "I don't know, I'd have to check".

Had a blonde moment when I realised that I was working on my laptop and was hot spotted from my phone.
