No... You loan it to the gallery, why give it away when you can loan it and get it back at some stage

Hmm, getting it back if you're deceased with no beneficiaries could be an effort worthy of Lazarus.

I follow a channel on youtube called Great Art Explained which focuses on a specific piece of art each episode and details the story behind it and the artist who created it the piece.
    Extremely educational stuff.

We love watching Baumgartner art restorations on YouTube.

The only frustration is the adverts and not knowing how much the restoration costs.

    Another one:

An exceptionally rare 15th century Chinese porcelain bowl has sold at auction for nearly $US722,000 ($925,000) after being bought in a yard sale for just $US35.

    Key points:
    • An antiques enthusiast came across the Ming Dynasty-era piece while browsing a yard sale last year
    • Sotheby's initially estimated the value to be between $US300,000 and $US500,000
    • Only six other such bowls are known to exist

15th century Ming Dynasty bowl found at Connecticut yard sale sells for nearly $1m - ABC News

Youtube Premium doesn't have an adverts and only costs $1.65 a month. You just need a VPN when you initially sign up. Well worth it, I watch a lot of Youtube. Premium also lets you turn off the screen so you can use it for listening only
YouTube Premium via Argentina: ARS $119/Month (Single ~A$1.65/Month, Family ~A$2.48/Month, VPN Required only for Registration)

    this is incredible

I like to watch the New York auctions Christie’s, Sothebys … art, Chinese porcelain. Some of the prices achieved blows your mind. International Bidding wars via phone can be exciting

This old master should be worth more. The chairs always intrigue me as being very gross

I'm in the process of buying a piece of art. My first really expensive piece...by "really expensive" I mean about $2k...probably not much for art collectors but for someone like me who doesn't collect, this is a lot! I'm not buying it as an investment though, it means a lot to me. I will post more details once it's all finalised.

Best thing is you can buy art cos you love and enjoy it. I follow a few artists in Perth, have a couple of pieces and I go to auctions. I am not going to get rich doing this, its just a nice hobby

Agreed, I'm not going to have some ugly thing on my wall by virtue of it being expensive or highly regarded. I've got to love it if I'm going to see it every day. I don't care if it's $50 or $5000.

I was about to write the same.-If it increases in value it's a pleasant bonus. V similar when buying antiques unless UR going for really big Licks. Enjoy your purchases
