Hi, first off, wasn't sure which thread to post this, but figured the most people would view this section than others. Basically, I am thinking outside the box a little and potentially reach out to any Real Estate Agents or Agencies that are hiring, or due to growth may have some up and coming positions.

I am strongly focused on developing my knowledge and skills in real estate, sales, and customer service, and am looking to develop a long-term career in the Real Estate Industry. I have had a passion for real estate for more than eight years, which started when I ventured into the property market and bought my first investment property at 19. Since then, my passion for property sales and management has increased, and I have now purchased three investment properties. These properties are the reason why I have been able to take off the last 6 months to travel and pursue my studies, so that I can now pursue my passion in real estate.

I have completed my Certificate of Registration, have my NSW Driver's License, impeccably presented and would like to find an entry level sales role preferably, however, willing to take PM or assistant type roles to get my foot in the door, learn and work my way up. I live in Hurstville currently, grew up in the Wollongong area and spent most of my time in the Shire, so primarily these would be my preferable locations to work.

Just thought i'd try an outside of the box method, and am looking for any advice, information, suggestions or a simple coffee meet and greet to talk opportunities. I can email my resume also, so if you are looking for a hard working, dedicated and hungry individual send me a PM.

I look forward to reading some of the comments!

    Mitch

Ramos , I'd go door to door , visiting each agency and asking to speak to the boss.

I'd like to get into selling property but unfortunately I've got wild and staring eyes.

Good luck, it's a job that you need to give several years before you start to really make a name for yourself and get referrals. You sound very driven though and good on you for thinking outside the box and trying your luck on here.

100% do as Datto suggested. No one really does this so it gives you a huge advantage.

If you want to be efficient as well, apply for positions that are advertised as well and then go into their office the next day.
Wait to speak with the licensee and there you have your interview.

This will also allow you to get a feel for the people and office. In the end your persistence and ability to sell yourself will do more than your resume.

Door to door is a great idea. After all, you need to go door to door to get listings. Get known in the community.

Couple of mock interview questions for you,
Have you started putting together a database, how big is it?
How do you plan to get listings and is your method sustainable?

Hint - if someone came to me with a database and business plan, they'd be taken much more seriously.

Thanks for your post Nick, I have had a lot of interest from my resume, but have been asked back for a second interview with Highland Property Cronulla Office this week, so my fingers are crossed. If I don't get an offer I will definitely step it up and directly go into agencies.

Great post and great questions! Another way of thinking - I like it!

The job I have a second interview for is for Lead Generation. So I imagine a lot of work on the phone and emails. But anything to get my foot in the door, and start learning and working hard. However, ill start thinking along those lines and your mock questions and hopefully stand out.

    Thanks again

Congrats @Ramos023! i started as a cadet real estate agent in January 2016. Its tough work i try and average 30 calls where i connect with something which equates to around 80 dials a days. Some days i get 0 appraisals other days i get 1-2.
Its all just a numbers game the more people you call/ speak to the more houses you get your foot in the door.
Hopefully you like coffee and have thick skin getting yelled at and told no a thousand times gets tiring my sales managers moto is "if you don't get told "no" you haven't tried hard enough"

Got the job! Highland Property Agents in Cronulla. Looks like a fun place, and awesome culture. Excited to get my foot in the door and start the hard work :)

Haha Tom! I like the moto, will be interesting to see how I like it at first, but honestly its just a stepping stone for me as I start in RE moving over from Retail.

...also I was a single chap on the dating scene till I was 25 so I have had my fair share of NO haha and realised then it was a numbers game :)

    Great stuff Ramos !!!
Get stuck into the prestige properties around Gunnamatta and Burraneer Bay.
Some nice commissions to be had there.

I was offered my first job in real estate when I was 19 and a door to door salesman selling electricity subscriptions.

I was put into commercial leasing.

They sacked me 3 months later :p
