    Do you actively tell people?
I'm not near 10 properties yet, but already keeping the extent of what I'm doing under my hat.

I don't go out of my way to tell people most of my friends know I do it but all my loans are with the same bank, same insurance company so you always get curious or non curious people

'Find a partner who earns more'. That made me chuckle.

Me and my partner have an escape strategy actually. Once we have built the portfolio here and if the AU economy goes to **** and joblessness goes through the roof we are ducking off to northern Brazil to live happy and cheap. That strategy involves a lot of tourism-driven airbnb-based lifestyle investment.

Ah yes. I find it a little rude when people at the bank ask what I'm doing with my money, feel like telling them it's none of their goddamn business ;)

Mid twenties with 10 properties? Well it's not an expected question for someone to ask if you got an inheritance. Mid twenties means you'd have been working for a max of 10 years right? Unless you're a very high income owner that is not an easy task.....great result. ....so......did you get an inheritance? :p:p

Property investment is very hard work, not many in this country want do this, given the associated stress, fear, emotion (sleepless nights?), labor, and troubles etc.
The result of such a cat & mouse game (looking at what you/we did in these two weeks!) may have some negative impact on your health, not to mention the quality of your life in general.
Some might not enjoy the fruits eventually .....
Some do not realize that you are helping the country by giving away your pension/entitlement.....

Is it more the case that most people use different pms in different areas or sides of a city though?
Most of ours are with different pms in unrelated areas except 2 pms who have a few each.

Yea, basically this. The PM Charlotte quoted probably has investors in her area but also in other areas they don't manage.

Could be. The person I spoke to had about 10 years experience with different agencies. Good point though.

Hehe! I have my loans spread out, but more than half are at one bank. Almost every time I have to phone, or go to a Branch the staff member serving mentions the number of loans.

Youve just described my 9 to 5 job and this is exactly the reason Im interested in property or passive income. Id rather go through all of the above for the benefit of my family than a share holder : )

I had an awkward moment at work recently.. We were talking about houses... This young male coworker said he wants to buy a house and rent to a friend under the table... I suggested that ignoring the illegality of the situation... That this would hinder his borrowing power with the bank (not declaring income) and he almost feel off his chair at the mention of owning two houses.. Apparently that isn't in a normal life plan.

    ARE WE REALLY THIS RARE?

According to RP data and Census Data,

Only 0.9% of all investors own 6 or more properties in Australia.

    Hold on to your pants.

Only 0.068% of all Australians own six or more properties in Australia.

You tell me if that puts us in the rare category or not.

I have a belt. A fine belt at that. No need to hold onto anything.

Wow if that is correct, and going off of Australia's 23,849,267 population (as at July 31st 2015 on the ABS ticker), that means that there are only 162,175 investors who hold 6+ properties (going off of that 0.068% stat from above).

I wonder what that 162,175 figure becomes at the 10+, 20+, and 30+ scenario..
