Could I suggest you listen quietly ....
If you can hear a clicking noise...
it may be the little insects.
However I think your whitish things on the wood look like the tracks that Ivy makes when it climbs up..
    I hope this helps.
I am not an expert though.

    Not likely.

The posts are in metal stirrups. Is there a gap between the bottom of the stirrup and the concrete?

If so, the only way termites could get up, is to build mud tubes over the metal. If there were mud tubes over the metal stirrups it should be obvious.

    Have you checked?

You should consider having an annual termite inspection anyway.

There are a range of things that can cause those deposits.

    HI joynz!

Even with metal stirrups, last week we just discovered a ton of weeds connecting the timber. So we cleaned the weeds at once. But not sure if its already too late, with the suspicious track on the timber.

Yes, we did a BP pre-purchase inspection in July , now we are arranging another termite inspection carried by a reputable inspector.

But earliest inspection time will probably be in Jan. We really hope these are not mud tubes

We also dont know if these are treated or not. Do you recommend product such as:

Hovex 1L Ultra Lo-Odour Termite Concentrate

So we could apply a thin layer onto our timber posts to repel these annoying termites

    They aren’t mud tubes.

Termites would usually enter the wood and eat up through it rather than stick on the outside. There are lots of photos of mud tubes on the Internet.

By all means get a whole house termite check though.

They look like they could be the organic matter left behind by climbing weeds?

Just get a termite inspection, I wouldn't stress, it looks okay to me :D

    I agree.

I would break the tube (with a stick if one is scared :D) and see if anything crawls out.

We have termites everywhere in the trees around our house. From time to time, I break a tube with my finger to ascertain if the nest is still active.
