Did the neighbours who have loud sex also get a dog and start renovating ? That would be the trifecta.

Peltor earmuffs do a good job of blocking out noise. Enough to make a Glock at an indoor gun range sound like bubble wrap popping. They go for $40 on the cheap end. Downside is that after maybe half an hour of no sound gets unbearable. body aint used to losing a key sense
    I have these:

i have a few pairs some expensive of noise cancelling headphones i dont know if hey are defective but i cant tell if they are working.
i saw pelter headsets earmuffs go up to $250 for shooters shutting out loud noises so might be worth finding out more
i have many pairs of industrial earmuffs but they are abetter than nothing if i can find somehting really powerful for very loud noise eg dog barking, renovation building taht would be wonderful.

The most annoying sound I have had was frogs - neighbour built the pond to attract them outside my bedroom window. Frog lovers! They were reaal baad at mating time and they have more legal protection than we do.

The answer was white noise inside the headphones or on speaker.

Is this within a block of units, or are you a city dweller looking for some country tranquility?

I have these Sony 1000XM2 Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones

They're very effective. If you keep an eye on ozbargain you'll likely be able to get them for <50% of the retail price.

They have some cool features to, like the ability to skip the song or mute the music and enhance the ambient noise by using gestures on the earpiece.

+1 for Bose. I use the QC30 wireless headphones in the office. Can block out the conversations being had directly next to me, the hum from the office air conditioner, and the redevelopment work being done on the building that is directly next door to the office I work in. Concrete drilling noises silenced in seconds!

Highly recommend the Bose QC35. Ridiculously good battery life, and worked amazingly well on the plane. Removes all the loud sounds without making your eardrums feel funny, like my workshop ear protectors do.
