I'm about to request a 25% raise so that I can pay off the buy in contribution more quickly.

You are disqualified to and the person below you for thinking about it.

And you thought about me liking your post so the like is going to be deleted.

This is why I like decentralised social media platforms.

At my archery club, the only person you're allowed to shoot is the club president. The only problem is, if you shoot him, you automatically have to assume his job.

He's the safest person in the club.

Centrally controlled social media platforms sell your data for profit for sure, like Facebook, Instagram etc...

I was specifically referring to DECENTRALISED. Ie Steemit, designed for the steem blockchain (steem is a cryptocurrency). Decentralised means no one own it but certain people have larger shares in it - anyone can have as much of a share as they want.

The value created from posting quality content is paid back to the poster. You are paid to post content.

With FB, anything with a commercial value ie a business promotion needs to be promoted to be visible - you pay for an ad.

All other posts just create content between ads to keep people engaged and data is sold to generate specific targeted ads.

People post for free, rather they actually just whinge and generate an audience with the same gripe to justify their whinging - no problems are getting solved, just a lot of noise and shaming... it’s pathetic and if I was not in business I would just stick to books for knowledge not the insanity of the masses.

There is better content (less whinging) on the decentralised platforms like steemit, good content builds reputation which means more visibility which means more money. It’s merit driven and a Newby is not visible until they earn a reputation through quality content.

Give it 5 years, see where Facebook and Instagram are, I for one can’t stand reading whinging about what other people should be doing when the poster is not doing it...

I’m on FB and Instagram aware that they are selling my data because I make money on social media - not on content but on business promotion. If I was not in business, I would not bother with any of it.
Steemit on the other hand, I would be there whether I had a commercial interest or not because I would be paid to create content. I love writing and I love crypto and I love the idea of decentralised, permissionless systems.

    Nah! Not quite that old.

    25% of $0 is still $0.

I thought you couldn't afford one without that payrise, @Simon Hampel

In that case I should request a 50% raise.

    He overdosed on cookies.

That came about when I was contributing a lot, and @Simon Hampel made the comment that he'd created a monster.

A lot of other people are contributing much more now, so the monster isn't applicable. Not to me, anyway.

Yeh, blockchain isn't going to be the panacea of libertarian anarchy that some are hoping for.

I'm still a monster, just not a nice one any more.

Besides, if it's referring to the volume of contributions, there's much bigger monsters in here than me ;-)
