    Hi all,

Just wondering from your experience, what's typical for architectural fees for a renovation, up to the point of DA application?

I'm assuming architects charge a lot more than draftsman's, but would love to hear of your experiences.

Make sure you are getting the skills of a architects, I paid for a Architect and he had no real suggestion for my internal work other than what I came up with on the dinning table.

So I really should just have used a Draftsperson to draw what I designed at home.

The advantage of a true Architect is getting the drawing completed including joinery drawings so the builder can quote from these and there is less room for error or interpretation.

What exactly is the scope of work?

Includes or excludes stat approvals, engineering advice etc?

    Big reno? Small reno?

    Any wet areas?

Do they have a good portfolio?

Are they just copying your brief or re-interpreting your ideas of space and flow and working out a lifestyle solution with you?

This question is like asking "how much should I pay for a small-ish car"....
