    My main "Goto" apps:

    * Banking apps
    * Tripview (for Sydney and Melbourne transport)
    * Airbnb
    * XE Currency
    * Google maps
    * Domain and Realestate
    * Seek
    * Airtasker
    * Facebook messenger (to be honest, I'd rather not have it, but Facebook communication kinda forces you to have it)
    * Skyscanner
    * Dropbox

    WhatsApp dominates completely regarding app usage, haven't sent a text msg in the last year (though still receive them sometimes from companies). Most other apps could do without really, desktop does a better job, but WhatsApp critical for comms, often the only reason I carry a phone around really.

    I had angry birds on my iPad mini when I travelled. I stayed with a local family in a village for two weeks when I was studying Spanish.

    The 13yo girl in that family loved it, and because I rarely needed the iPad, she played it constantly. It was a good connection when there weren't a lot of other things in common- we got along well as a result.

    12 months after I left she had a baby brother. They named him Geoff.

    I actually do like AB and CC myself, but use them as time-fillers, such as when waiting for appointments, rather then letting them dictate my schedule. I recall a friend unable to meet a social appointment because she was "waiting for her cake to bake" on some Facebook game. :eek:

    Instagram (for my work)
    Line (again for work)
    WhatsApp (family&friends)
    Various shopping apps (work research)

    A very popular app here that I don't use is GO-JEK which is basically a transport/courier/personal shopper app. It's kind of like Uber, but with motorcycle instead of cars.

    Camscanner (you'll love this @MTR for scanning receipts, letters with your phone)
    Banking apps
    Weather (little bit obsessed with watching the rain radar)
    WhatsApp for messaging people especially when overseas so not txting fees
    Wikipedia and Google for instantly knowing answers
    Uber

    on my ipad more of the tv catch up apps

    I've not seen a fake app but I have heard of them but there is a pretty robust procedure to get your app in itunes and I think it would weed out malicious apps.

    Dorsal - Someone is a surfer...

    Evernote - it is my second brain, could not have done without it when I did my masters

    Lastpass - another second brain, this time only for passwords, indeed I pretty much don't know any of my passwords and use only generated passwords

    I'm not familiar with Pandora, but I stream using Spotify.

    There is a paid version for about $12pm I think, or a free version which plays ads every few songs.
