    Hi all,

Anyone with the digital edition of API magazine?

Looking to subscribe to their 2 or 3 year magazine as it currnetly gives extra 6 month bonus issues due to their 20 year anniversary edition. They give you an ability to add digital copies access at $10/year (12 issues). So over a 3 year $179 subscription (print) you can get digital version also for a combined total of $209.

Just wondering for those who have the digital version access, is it literally just the magzine in digital form or is there also additional multimedia available? Can you actually save the magazine to your computer or tablet for offline view - particularly if your subscription expires? Or is it a login only digital edition (so once your subscription ends you woudln't be able to access it)?

I heard it may have additional videos, content etc. the digital version over the print version? But want to confirm?

    Thanks,

The main disadvantage of the digital version is it doesn't come with Pricefinder subscription. That was the main reason I got the magazine to begin with.

And only subscribe for 1 year, as half way through they'll ask for a resub, and you'll get an extra 3 months worth of PF and at a cheaper rate.

What's pricefinder? I think it's only 3 months access anyway then it dissapears??

Subscription wise im going print, but my main q is it's $10 extra a yr for the digital print and printed. So a $179 3 yr sub would be $209.

If anyone has or has used digital id be keen to know if a) you can save copies or print pages down so if you stop subscribing will you get to keep your old digital editions?? Or will you lose access?

    B) is there any additional multimedia or content in digital /online login access over print??

Jamie to get the extra 6 months bonus you need a 2 or 3 yr subscription. A 2 year is 139 vs 3 years at 179. For only 40 dollars more you get an extra yrs worth of subscription. Wouldn't this be a cheaper alternative than waiting for a Renewal notice discounted price??

Not speaking from experience with a subscription but if the digital version is printable then just print to a pdf file using something like Cutepdf.

I don't think it'd be that easy, but happy to be corrected by any digital access users.

I ended up pushing the button and going the 3 year @ $209 for both print ($179 stand alone) and digital combo.

Given the printed magazine gave 31 Oct as the cutoff, hopefully as per the guy who I spoke to on the phone on Friday said, they'll honour the bonus 6 months as long as I subscribed prior to them releasing the next issue due out on monday or tuesday I think?

I guess you can always cancel your subscription anyway if you missed out and they refund you your unused portion right?

Hopefully the magazines won't (like many other subscriptions before it) sit in a pile on my room floor!

On the iPad you save the digital edition through Zinio to read offline - it would be similar on other devices. Definitely worth getting.

Like everyone else here - pricefinder access is our main reason for the sub so only do 12 months each time.

But once you save it offline through that edition, if you change device (and having stopped your subscription) you wouldn't be able to redownload the offline version will you? So it's an once off? And that can't then be transferred to your computer to save it?

I ended up doing 3 years unfortunately, I read the terms and conditions and the pricefinder access is only open for one per new member anyway? So if I renewed in another years time I'd not get another 3 months access to pricefinder?

Is the main purpose of pricefinder for price/property analysis research?

They make it very hard to download, only way I figured how to do it was snapshot every page on the iPad and then combine them all into one PDF. Bit sad but can then can keep a copy on my Mac and upload it to Evernote and refer to it whenever I want. Usually for the stats, bit over the '22 properties in 22 minutes' stories. But it's an ad free version :)

I've had about 4 Pricefinder subs through API - you get a new one with each renewal.
The terms may say only one - but that is not the way it operates.

The magazines are stored in Zinio - you can download it to as many devices as you want.
The editions are store back as long as you want - but you generally don't go back.

That's what I was going to suggest for PC, print screen, paste in Word or whatever, convert to pdf if that's what you're into.

It's very annoying if you wanted to print it, or make a copy.

@Tonibell i'm not familiar with zinio but I assume once you cease your subscription with API, any magazine available through zinio becomes available even when you reinstall zinio on a new device later down the track? So it's forever yours?

With regards to printing/saving copies, sounds painful. The PC if it is just web browser based articles then I guess print screening would work? Why not just hit print to pdf straight away? or is it print protected on the website?

Did anyone actually find their 'free e books' included in subscriptions ever worth it , or a load of outdated baloney?

I think you can log into it or something similar with a local library membership, can see all sorts of digital editions of magazines too.

Just got an email from API:

get 3 months access to PriceFinder completely no charge when you subscribe to 6 digital issues of API magazine - Australia’s #1 magazine for property investors

Linky http://www.apimagazine.com.au/product/digital-spring-special-2016/ but gives an error message so might be worthwhile emailing them about it.

With luck it comes out faster than the hard copy. I'm a year into my current subscription and during that time delivery has slowed by 3 weeks. Still cheaper than the newsagent though. ;)
