Apartments that require underpinning

    Has an apartment block ever been deemed inhabitable by the council due to owners not agreeing to pay for structural works? There's been a couple of apartments I like but owners need to put in 20k each to pay for urgent underpinning. An agent told me that if they don't all agree to pay the council will shut the complex down.

    That sounds like a reasonable procedure but has that ever actually happened, as in, is it a likely scenario I should consider?.

    Lane Cove Tunnel collapse - builder bought the majority of the units.

    I haven't got a specific example but I'm quite sure there have been plenty of condemned structures over issues like this.
