    Hi All,

Would a these going up on the same street effect a 4 bedroom ppor in a negative way?
Looking at purchasing a home and on the corner of the street apparently high rise apartments will be being built. Town is small and touristy during xmas periods?

Orientation/overshadowing? Parking? Increased population may lead to increased commercial vitality outside the tourist season.

For ppor I would avoid it. Once one cockroach like this moves in it won't be long before they overrun the neighbourhood and you may end up surrounded. The only benefit would be potential increased land values especially if you could consolidate a couple of properties or join with neighbours for a bulk sell.

... and how many of the units will end up party houses on airbnb?

Its not great but apartments are necessary to supply increased accommodation.

The problems are mainly from the sheer contrasting bulk of a tall building near a house.

Sorry I have this wrong. Not a high rise at all, looks to be 2 storey high complex of 2 bedroom apartments with a few commercial opportunities. Overshadowing and parking should not be an issue.

If you like peace and quiet steer clear, increased traffic, lack of off street parking (people slamming doors 1-2am), noisey parties on balconies and common areas.
It does increase vibrancy of the area with more younger people so if you plan on running a business in the location it is a bonus.
Where my family purchased and built 10 years, over the past 5 years several houses across the road and a large lot of industrial units have been converted to over 500 units.
Gym right next door in a commercial premises which opens at 5am (approved for 8am only but they dont comply to it) and 8 stories has been approved on the 500sqm block next to us, not a good place to live anymore tbh.
