Even if u pay some hundreds of dollars for someone to block holes and put cages
They still return as law forbids taking them far
    Or apparently others move in
After paying a few times years ago and cutting all trees that they climb up
    I gave up
But I'd like to maybe try again as they thump through the roof throughout the house scaring and waking us
    Any latest methods
    Anyone succeed ?
    Thanks

    Yep.

    Search for my thread.

You have to seal your house. There should be no reason this isn't doable, even if you have to wrap the whole thing in rat/mice wire

    Removing a squatter (of sorts)

I eventually got rid of it in a near death experience involving the baby, the mother, and a series of local ring-in possums that all came running towards whilst my wife wielded a rake and shreiked like a banshee.

We borrowed the community trap, caught him and patched up a hole in the roof. Took a couple of days. Have done it a couple of times and so have our neighbours. It's just one of those things.

Get yourself a big fat carpet Python then throw it into the roof cavity.

We haven't seen or heard any possums since about the same time i found a six foot long snake skin wrapped through the palm tree at the corner of the garage. Two Jack Russell terriers made short change of the one possum that dared to come down onto the ground.

Chilli pepper worked well for me with cats, they dont like it. I read possums also. Big bag of cheap chilli powder, spread it around where they go.

A neighbour down the road has had her tree branches wrapped with metal sheeting to prevent them climbing.

Does anybody know if the landlord is legally (QLD) obliged to have a possum removed if tenants are complaining about a possum in the roof?

My understanding is that yes, as a landlord it is my problem.

    Legally? Not sure.

One died in our roof. Not fun. After that we sealed everything up, even got a roof guy to help but it's since reincarnated.

I caught 16 of them that were eating my mandarins last year and relocated them across the river to a more affluent suburb....

As a general rule, relocating Possums is a death sentence. They're highly territorial and moving them into another Possum's Hood will result in death. You'll usually also get a new Possum coming into the territory soon enough anyway. That said... 16 possums!? How on earth did you have 16 Possums living on your property!?

Only practical way to deal with them in 99% of cases is to seal access into the house.

As Tom has said, relocating them will kill them. You cannot legally relocate them further than 25 metres of capture.

We love our possums but when they were causing problems in our roof, and then between our ground and first floor, we captured them (ourselves and with help from a professional) and released them in our yard, but we also added Possom boxes for them.

I'm buggered if I know. I have lived in this house for over 40 years and had never seen a possum until 2 or 3 years ago. I suspected they were around but never saw them. I live in the inner city and only have a couple of trees on my property so they aren't living here but somewhere else in the neighborhood. Haven't seen any for a few months but we'll see how it goes when the fruit comes again in a few months.
