Its not about value but what is truly your dream home

    Did you do it?

    Such a subjective question!

My definition of a dream home is
    1. You have to spiritually connect with the surrounding area and the specific site, feel at ease and safe, at peace.
    2. The house should be comfortable and have the ability to improve to your own requirements (or rebuilt).
    3. There should be an underlying capital growth potential over time.
    4. There should also be a development or re-zoning potential to multiply the capital growth.
    5. Should you need to move out then the house should have a strong rental potential / yield so that you can hold onto it.
    6. You buy it at a price where its worth more than you paid at settlement.

By this definition I have recently bought two dream homes (Perth and Melbourne)!

YES! I don't ever want to move, so I think it must be my dream house.
However, home to me is my family, those people closest to me, yet the house is just where we live. ;)

We have beautiful views of the coast and city lights. A cool climate. Great neighbours. House way too big.

We should downsize but just can't let go. How do u shrink a house?

...... also never wanted posh inner city spread.

All my homes have been "right for now". I don't think I have a "dream" home ... some have come close, which I've been sad to leave (both for work transfer reasons) - but the new adventure, and excitement about what is to come, has always outweighed any regret

My "Dream Home" is mounted on the rear of my 4WD in the form of a fully functional camping body (Fridge/ freezer, gas stove, Bed) It allows me access to some very remote parts of this beautiful country.... sort of like having an endless backyard!;):):)

Own a few dream homes. Trouble is, the tenants are enjoying it!

My thoughts too - I guess it depends at what point that dream was because things have escalated beyond why my initial expectations of a dream house were.

Dream homes are nice, as long as you don't expect them to equate to the dream life.

My mate built this 50 square house, 6 bedder, 2 up on the ground level and 4 on the bottom. All have ensuites plus an additional powder room on the bottom floor for guests to use the loo. Huge areas with a rumpus/bar and living areas. Said it looked great in the showroom where every little speck of dust was cleaned daily. Sold up for a much more practical 40 square house about 3 years later when maintenance became a bit too much.

Maybe cause i grew up on a farm, a "dream house" for me is one that comes with free cleaning, maintenance and no lawns/gardning to do. But of course has them and they look great.
So unless I have excess income to cover that on top top of all others, it ain't no dream house. Just more work and drama.
    I've come close though.
