I've been going to hillsong which is quite a motivated place and I like the music and plenty of people I miss the sensible, intellectual and mature nature of St John's cathedral which I still stay a little bit connected to but the demographic there is too old for me. I'm open to any sort of spiritual things really as I just like worship. I'm not a dogmatic person. So I keep an eye on different activities. I think there's a lot of benefits to christianity and one can be quite involved but still be sceptical and it's not a problem Everyone is on their own journey and there are many different beliefs even within the same congregation I just take what I want from it and make my own interpretation about how it applies to my life. At the same time I don't try and convince others in the church that noahs ark probably didn't exist. Unless they really wanted my views. In summary by being open minded about the whole thing I've got a lot of benefits in terms of support, social contacts, events, tips about being happy etc

Stuffed without those who have a belief in something greater than themselves. Very few churches in thailand but thousands of buddhist and hindu temples who look after the poor and those disadvantaged in life.

I recall a movement several years ago called "Church in the pub". Don't know if this ever caught on.

My church, City on a Hill, Melbourne, started in a Docklands pub eleven years ago. We had to move because we outgrew the space so now meet at Hoyts Cinema, Melbourne Central, with other congregations at Highpoint, Malvern, Geelong and Brisbane. About Us | Find out more about our services, pastors and vision .

Having in the UK spent 30+ years of my life on a church building committee, endlessly wrestling with the upkeep of a 150 year old building, it is hugely liberating to be a member of a building-free church.

Sounds like an overall positive experience!

It certainly is nice for a sense of community

On review @Angel,not sure if I’m reading the rules correctly but at a cost $22.22 per hour this event may exceed the limit of $20/hour allowed for meet ups organised by non business members.

I would have gone if it is in Sydney. Slightly OT, I do like Wayne's preaching as he doesn't hold back on what he thinks!

Lovely to see other Christians here.

I’ve been watching a lot of online churches but I’m missing the community aspect. Hopefully I’ll find a home church or bible study group before the year’s out.

Given that this is an investment forum, I really appreciate that people have also clarified that there’s nothing inherently wrong with building wealth - it is what you do with it that matters. The Bible in general speaks a lot about money and good money management. The parable of the talents, the Proverbs 31 woman, King Solomon etc and indeed our first commands in Genesis - to have dominion over the earth and be fruitful and multiply. And if you really read the Bible in context, you will find that Jesus was not poor.

100%. We were born with nothing, and we will have to leave everything we own in this world, when we die. So it's definitely what we do with our wealth while we are alive.
