I have two obsessions, property investment & food. And my favorite food is BBQ.

We are lucky in Australia to have access to superb food and perfect weather for BBQ.

As a family, we often prefer to BBQ at home by ourselves or invite friends over, we most likely will get a better quality meal cooked at home. We can be a lot more casual and enjoy it more, than being stuck on a cramped table in a loud restaurant.

Tonight, we bring you Aussie ribeye, proper not from packet Diane sauce with extra mushrooms, fried potato.

Does anyone else like to BBQ?

Not to mention it probably being about 20% of the cost of eating out.

My uncle did amazing shrimps on the barbie today....
Huge green prawns deveined, tail shell left on, prawns cut butterfly style so they are wide.
Dipped in butter. BBQ'ed 90 seconds on one side, then 60 seconds on the other.
Sorry I have no photos but they were absolutely brilliant....

BBQ seafood, that's how seafood should be eaten. We have an old style charcoal BBQ too, super
Add a few restaurant prices beers and a taxi ride home, maybe as low as 10%.

That looks amazing. I love BBQ. Tend to prefer thinner cut meats (Korean / Japanese style). But in general BBQ is very forgiving, regardless of what you do the food turns out great. Especially when cooked with real wood.

Living in Queensland, we barbecue about half the week, especially in summer. Keeps heat out of the house not using stove top or oven.

Did a slow cooked lamb leg yesterday. Five hours in the Webber kettle over a eucalyptus fire.

I love it. Been doing it for years and will do for many years to come. I especially like rotisserie cooking where I can sit back, watch and enjoy a drink while it cooks.

I cook normally dinner every Saturday & Sunday night (unless we are out for some reason).
Partly because I actually enjoy it, but mostly its to give my Wife a break from having to produce something every other night of the week.
So BBQ it more often than not is.
I have two Webber kettles, a charcoal spit, a gas smoker & also your standard gas BBQ.

Our family only just returned from a month abroad late Friday night & we all really missed our usual daily dose of vegies whilst away.
So last nights cook was just vegetarian, a mix of roasted vegies on the BBQ & steamed ones on the cooktop in the kitchen. The kids just fell on them.
Tonight I plan on cooking some pumpkin, corn on the cob, jacket potatoes & some whole onions over some leftover heat beads in the Webber, steam some beans & peas on the cooktop & grill some salmon fillets on the gas BBQ.
During large family gatherings, its not uncommon for me to have all my different BBQ's going at once cooking different things.
BBQ'ing is admittedly the only thing close to multi tasking that I can do.

I don’t go near it, but this is my husbands love - the most amazing things come out and the smell while things are cooking is amazing. One of my favourites is a charred pepper pasta that he makes - it’s the best.

Turkey on the Black one. It had been brined for 24 hours beforehand.

Orange Juice and Marmalade glazed ham on the Green one. I don't brine hams or red meats or fish. Only poultry.

    Just came across this thread
Definitely a fan of the bbq/spit roasting and slow cooking, I have recently just got into spit roasting
We have done a whole lamb and whole pig twice each time it gets better. Love the opportunity to be outside with the kids playing and some friends or family over
I only have a cheapie Bunnings spit but does the job and looking to upgrade to a smoker in the near future.

A souvla like that does not deserve to be called a BBQ. That’s the best of the best.

My husband would be outside BBQing and cooking in the wood oven and hanging Cypriot sausages all over the pergola if he didn’t have to work

(Or had a wife who whinged so much about the mess - 40 kg of pork soaked in red wine for a week in my fridge is not something I can handle more than once a year  - but he loves it)

Haha the porchetta in the first pic was the first rotisserie I purchased
Let’s just say it’s done it’s fair share of work, unfortunately my waist line has suffered.
