If there is any fish/pond places nearby they might buy it but that's going to be hard at the moment.

If you keep on top of it you might get very wet.

    I'd make a fortune!

Is pent a solid 4 hours yesterday with a pool leaf scoop plus a DIY pool noodle/net contraption. I have 2x 1m tall piles of the stuff on now and have barely made a dent in the surface area.

Was pleasing to see a couple of ducks land within ten minutes of visible water appearing though.

Broke my net at about 6pm last night so called it a day, now have to rig something else up as there' no Bunnings within my 5k radius and the dam stuff I have scooped out will have grown back within the week if I don't crack on every day and try and clear the lot.

I'm calling it the Covid Weed, because if I can get the numbers low, I can keep them low...

Since the plant thrives in nutrient rich water, you may find that having swimming ducks encourages its growth!

Here’s a few photos of as it was when I started, my DIY dragnet and the first pile started, that’s about 1.5 hours worth. That piles twice the size now and the second pile about the same.

I’m at work now scratching out designs for a better dragnet for this arvo.

It’s going to make tremendous compost!

Spent the whole day in my waders, found the easier way is just a simple leaf rake, scoop and throw on a pile. I’m absolutely shattered. About half way done but have to hit the deep parts next. Need a bit of wind to blow It all back down one end. Got 3 massive piles for compost so far. 9E8CE4AD-EE9E-49CD-8F66-919163E9FA18.jpeg 9F874DA4-0B64-4F8F-A4F6-3F610AC2A4ED.jpeg 4A35177F-F3B7-46CF-804D-6A1B5559EAB7.jpeg 2278B20F-8423-4E3F-A901-674A885AF010.jpeg B50CBBBE-DE07-486E-A895-AFF57842DF06.jpeg 23253BDD-E818-4981-A17A-CE7B17C87813.jpeg

We have a dam back! 8 hours solid with nothing more than a pool noodle on a rope to coral the stuff toward me and a leaf rake for scooping it out.

I’ve got 95% of it out, 3 MASSIVE piles composting and sore feet from waders that are way too small.

An hour with a pool leaf net to get the edges and I should be done. Just have to keep an eye on it this time and not let it get out of hand, I never want to have to do this again, I’m exhausted!

Was lovely to see an abundance of big purple dragonflies making their way over again though, as soon as there was a decent amount of open surface water, and two lots of ducks back whilst I worked. 8864CCAF-83B3-42A6-8D04-F6B3AC907DA8.jpeg 4EBDCF41-E101-4293-8A95-2EEF17F73F00.jpeg 14D5128B-D4BE-48FD-A9AF-5FDCDEA822FC.jpeg 87EF4AD7-17D2-49FD-976F-97F8010E8C11.jpeg 47340E9E-45EF-4C72-ACB8-A2E56E3FD667.jpeg 3EAEAFD8-8B62-447B-AFEC-CF297996BB4C.jpeg BFC4E950-79FA-4BE6-9EB6-ACCF78B6AD6C.jpeg 17759583-A0F5-414A-A06F-9949F88B68F5.jpeg

Fully agree, especially so as it seems @Propagate did it while spending 3/8ths of his time lying on his side.

Yeah, couldn’t bring myself to poison the whole dam. It’s been so nice seeing all the different water birds (until now), there’s obviously plenty of food in there for them which would die off if we let the azolla smother itself then have a mass die off into the water. We have a regular pair of cormorants that are great to watch, they’ll move on if all the yabbies and fish die. It’ll definitely come back, but i can keep on top of it. Problem was I’m new to all this acreage living lark, didn’t know what it was, plus I leave for work in the dark and return in the dark 6 days a week so by the time I realised what was going on it’d really taken hold. Lesson learned, nothing an hour in the waders each time I see it starting to get a hold won’t fix.
