    agreed! @The Falcon

    Better buying options IMO

    - Rockfords Basket Press Shiraz ~$70
    - Kellermeister Wild Witch Shiraz ~$50
    - Wendouree Shiraz ~$70
    - Kay Bro's Block 6 Shiraz ~$95
    - Elderton Command Shiraz ~$100
    - Tim Adams The Aberfeldy Shiraz ~$60
    - Yalumba The Octatvious ~$90
    - Turkey Flat Shiraz ~$45

These are good wines, all great to cellar and will be very good drinking.

Would prefer to have 7-17 times more bottles :)

These all are still very high quality

Geezus I can see you are a fan of the big Barossa style! I am keen on some of the Victorian stuff as well, Best's Bin 0, Jasper Hill and the like, but Margaret River Cab might be my favourite.

One Barossa I always keep at hand is the Kalleske Greenock, a true corker at around $35 and a real crowd pleaser.

If you want something you can drink now, I'd just grab some Kalleske Greenock Shiraz from Nicks for $35, its pretty much nectar and accessible young. In the Cab's Woodlands Margaret is a ripper around $60 i reckon. Give those a run and see what you think mate. Both will need a little air, so grab a decanter.

    @Brady

Gent's we cracked a '15 St Henri at dinner in HK the other night, still pretty closed up....first world problems eh! The table preferred the Moss Wood Amy's Cab blend (which is a $35 bottle), i was a bit dissapointed with the vote to be honest.

I blame my father! He started me on nothing but big bold Barossa shiraz. Living in Adelaide it's hard not too
But I do appreciate a lot of different types of wine, it's really about understanding that although they might both be shiraz they're completely different if big Barossa v cool climate.
I still like a say Shaw & Smith Shiraz ~$40 knowing it's cooler climate - expectation is different.
Still also enjoy a nice Eden or Clare Valley Riesling or even a Pinot Gris

If you're looking for investment - get on the lists for
    Rockfords & Wendouree
Buying Shiraz ~$60-80 and few years later they're worth ~$120-250

I wouldn't be cracking a '15! I'm still reluctant to start opening up my '12s that I have.
But only have one '10 left which I'm not opening for at least 7 more I reckon. So tempting - kind of regret smashing through the other 5 along with not buying more at the time.

Typical restaurant set up, '12 on the wine list, they bring it out and its a '15. Bugger it!

Yeah that's pretty annoying when you're looking at that type of wine.

I recall one restaurant continued to do it, we sent it back each different wine as vintages were way off... until we asked if we could just go into the cellar - much easier.

i am a big fan of bold heavy reds, so the super tuscans, bordeaux and shiraz,
not the biggest fan of grange for drinkinging

I also like the basket press
    henschkes
    yalumba signature
    wendouree

also recently tried and was impressed by the bannockburn shiraz,
cant remmeber the year as I was on my second bottle, and my memory is a little hazy

Have to agree with @The Falcon on he Kalleske Greenwich Shiraz. Store it and it tastes like a $100+ bottle.

Next Fave is St Henri's. Quality and you know it's going to be good. Best bottle I ever drank was a circa 90s St Henri.

Terribly distressed. The Other Assets thread has been mutilated to conform with InvestChat integration. But thank goodness an important topic involving alcohol managed to survive!

Drank heaps of it. The Days of Wine and Roses are long gone - fortunately.

I have had Grange only a couple of times but I realise I didn't have the ability to appreciate it. It was booze to me.

Soon to head off to a late lunch. I understand the person organising is into Chianti. I'm not familiar with many wines now but knowing the host I can only assume it'll be pretty good.

Only hope this drop is not on the list.

Often drunk in conjunction with other beverages which complement, or mask, the delicate flavour of Purple Death.

Please note, the term 'some' implies a certain flexibility.

    Russian Jumper (with some vodka)
    American Purple (with some Bourbon)
    Purple Lady (with some Gin)
Purple Randy (with some Brandy, a rose and candles)
Purple Carribean (with some white Rum and a parrot)

Or use for: punch base, ice cream topping, trifles, steak marinade or with fruit juice.

Nope love my port and sticky.
Berri Estate buy it in bulk, put it into my barrel along with bit of others - it's gold great value.
Used to drink Galway Pipe @ $30 a 700m bottle before.
Berri Estate is ~$6-10 a Litre
