Hi just wanting to get a group of like minded investors in Hobart/Tasmania to get together to discuss property matters in an atmosphere with no sell/no ulterior motives/no spruikers etc.

    Cheers

    Hi all,

I am also from Tassie and just signed up here. Doesn't look like from a Tasmania investors perspective that it is well represented here.

Would love to chat with local minded people about opportunity prospects both locally in Tassie and further interstate.

Hope to hear from you all soon

    Cheers

Apparently rental market is super tight, not much choice, will be interesting to see what happens over the next year

Fellow investor put a 1 bedroom unit on gumtree for rent in Hobart before he was going to go to real estate to advertised. Got 37 calls in 3 hours and had to take the ad down. He was amazed with it volume of inquiries. Ended up renting to the first caller.

I think the rental market is tighter in Hobart in particular than what most people realise at the moment.

Apparently, there's a 1% vacancy rate in Hobart at the moment.

good idea Splash Brother. Legally Blonde might be interested and who knows how many other Hobartians are reading these posts. One possible meeting place might be the State theatre cafe. They have coffee, wine and nibblies?

You could always do a Skype session / link in with those Mainlanders who invest there ...

Hey I'm tassie. I've had two PPoR's in tassie but north west tas - Somerset is now an investment and the other we have just moved back into after being in Darwin for 3.5 years where we also purchased. In terms of how the Somerset propert is going ... Terrible capital growth but ok rental returns - current market value around $170000 (we paid $145000 about 8 years ago!) and we get $220 a week rent.

Welcome back to Tassie. Yeah I hear you, capital growth has been slow over the past few years but have seen a big upturn in Hobart recently, so hopefully that will start to spread in the regional areas.

Some suburbs in Hobart have risen 10-15% over the past 18 months and it feels like the economy, tourism and employment rates are all turning for the better with the Asian investors leading the way to turn things around.
