Booked to Cook Islands in one month and Europe for a month mid year.

don’t think Cook Islands will be an issue .

europe , mid year , I think everything will be clear . We’re going via Taiwan

Safety goggles have breather holes. Better with proper swimming goggles or full on scuba gear.:D

I believe Covermore will cover the illness but not cancellation as it's an epidemic/pandemic. See Coronavirus Update

What you can do instead is get coverage that allowed "cancel for any reason" and if you feel that you want to cancel the trip as the risk has gotten too high then it will cover you

I know that AllClear covers some people who cannot get travel insurance through the usual companies. Perhaps worth a phone call?

What company offers this in Australia?

I have seen USA people mention it but have not been able to find it here.

I've got a flight to Beijing on March 19 and depart from Shanghai 10 days later. I'm not worried about anything.

Off to Sri Lanka on Saturday. We actually booked the week before the terrorist attack there.

    No intention of not going.

I flew through Hong Kong in the middle of the SARS Panic and was very amused to see couple walking around with the lady wearing a mask and the man without a mask!

Flew to the UK soon after the 9/11 attack and had a whole row to myself.

Unless I am told not to travel I don't let things disrupt my plans.

As far as cruises go the only time we have an inside cabin is on the Spirit of Tasmania.

I would certainly consider going OS later in the year if the airfares drop significantly. I try to never travel during monsoon/cyclone season anyway.

    You
You might want to check on your airline website. They would have the information on your flight about 2 weeks before departure if the flights will be cancelled or not.

Just flew back from Queenstown a couple of days ago. About 3 people on the flight were wearing masks.

Which walk are you going to do?

Wife is off to Singapore mid March for a long weekend. Have been following the news and wondering if I am missing something...from what I read its a new version of flu that is highly contagious but mortality rates etc. are the same as normal flu which spreads the globe every year and kills thousands globally.

That’s being said I probably won’t book any new overseas travel to we see how it plays out.

I think it's a combo of two things:

    - the highly contagious bit ... remembering that the Spanish flu was highly contiguous and ended up killing 20-50 million in twelve months (when the world population was only 1.8bil - so just under 3% mortality rate. Doesn't sound much but extrapolate that out to today, with around 7.8bil people and that would equate to the death of 234,000,000 in 12 months from the virus alone

    - the fact that they don't understand much about it

We are traveling including cruising starting mid June. Europe via Japan then to the USA and finally home again.

My expectation is that everything will be clear by June.
