    Thanks pinkboy!

It was a powerlifting competition, so all competitiors get to attempt 3 of each lifts, hence the 3 different weights per lift. :)

    Hai Greg,

2 1/2 years on, Ive persisted with sprinting and experienced multiple various injuries including hamstring pulls/strains, hip flexor strains, a calf strain, anterior/posterior shin splints and Achilles tendon issues.
The Achilles and shin splints were by far the worst and probably set me back 12 months for those 2 painful and chronic injuries, which happened at the beginning of my sprinting endeavors.

Anyway, I’m pretty good now and ran my first ever race today, a friendly comp in Dubbo.
I’ve only been training for the 100m sprint, but raced the 200m today for a FAT of 24.14s.
Wanted to get into the 23’s but there was no competition to pull me along.

My 100m race is tomorrow, must break 12s.

That's a great time Ace! You will kill 12 for the 100!

Thanks @chindonly but I’ve got a relatively slow start and the 2nd 100m of the 200m is with a flying start, so it will be tough to break 12s at this stage.

Bet you $20 next time you are up here, you will beat it. Just stay low with good technique at the start.

Your story of persistence is a thing of beauty!! Massive respect ...

From my experience, at 24.14 for the 200m, you can most certainly take out 12 secs for the 100m. In fact, I would expect it. Let me know how you go. I foresee a 11.9ish tomorrow.

    Regards
    Greg

Today i have taken some powder i seen online called CREATINE,$29.99 from Coles,
I feel more energy ,i will go to the gym 2 times today and try to lift heavy,my weight is now increasing towards 110kg but i am not doing cardio.
    i just dont like it.
i just lift weights only but at a fast pace, rest maX 30 seconds between sets.
i feel i am puffing more when im walking but feel stronger with more energy.

I dont want to take too much of this Creatine the taste is awful plus i am getting thirsty easy and getting a headache, but i feel energy has increased.

i am getting over 50yo soon

    No so good.
12.21s with a tail wind assisting.
I was quite sore from the previous day.
Especially my left hip flexor which hurt to lift my knee up unassisted.

I might not race again until next season later this year.
In the meantime, will keep working on my weaknesses and keep building my speed, strength and athleticism.
Breaking 12.00s will happen even if it takes me until 50 years old.

12.21 not shabby with an injury! Maybe next time try and do just the 100 first.

Hill sprints. Best / worst training ever depending on whether you're looking at results or your puddle of sweat afterwards.

That would be the plan, to just run the 100m only to give myself the best chance to run my best time.
At least I have something to improve upon now.

Hope some of you guys are still training and kicking goals.

There’s always so much to learn and weakness to work on.

Personally, my focus has been speed and strength for the last couple of years and I’ve neglected aerobic fitness and muscular hypertrophy.

To work on this I’ve started working on some barbell complexes and rowing, along with introducing some more bodybuilding style lifts back into my routine.
To be honest, my training has felt a little stale and unmotivated lately, but bringing back some bodybuilding lifts has lifted my passion again as this is what I started the whole journey with in my early years.
Should end up with a good physique too

Getting back on the horse after a long absense so have to start with low weight and take it easy. Just backsquats, benchpress, pullups and kettlebell stuff for now.

I kinda like minimalist but may add more once i get back into the swing of it.

    Still training and running
Can't ever see me stopping to be honest, been doing both for well over 30 years now
I have a gym set up at home with my prized possession being the Smith machine ( as well as the Sonos system and Plasma tv!!)
Weight training is very important as you get older to stop muscle atrophy and give a sense of wellbeing. The running is a good time to think and clear the head. It's great that you guys have goals to continue your fitness - keep up the good work

I got one personal goal recently bench press my bodyweight 5 reps (85kg). It's taken 2 years but I am over 50. Next goal 2 plates (100kg) I expect this will take at least a year.

The one thing that i was neglecting and was holding me back most of last year which I have rectified is not eating enough, now I pile in much more even when not hungry. Weight has risen from 78 to 85 and lifts up also.

Training has been curtailed significantly since Jan due to shoulder injury - Jiu Jitsu related.
Had scans and cortisone last week, and some calcium sucked out of the joint. Another cortisone on Thursday. Will be back one day!
