So they are bundling mortgages and flogging them to investors with a high(ish) yield? Think I've seen this story before, didn't end well :|

This is called Peer to Peer Lending. Society One is another player in this space.

Meh, classic account return 5.2% with a management fee of 1.5%, so your return is only 3.7%. Not much more reward than a term deposit for much more risk.

I'm not an expert on securitisation of mortgages but isn't it the same thing got the world into GFC? (That said I think australian mortgages are less risky than US mortgages as we have better banking/lending system.)

You are so much better off just chuck money into your Ppor offset.

I've got an 11% dividend return and 21% growth return on my NAB shares :D. ANZ are even better @ 34% total return.

Both parcels acquired in January. Edit - NAB in Feb.

Yes, Santa arrived early as usual. Nice fat dividend deposits from WHF, NAB, MQG, ANZ. Will celebrate by digging out our highest quality top shelf home brew. Special occasions like these deserve only the best:D.

You can have a play in sharesight.com.au to see how investments made say 2 years earlier would have gone. Use this to learn the ropes without committing any cash. You can also experiment with the compounding effect of dividend reinvestment.

Generally plenty of good advice here, whether that be regular stocks, Boggleheads / ETFs / LICs and the 'not advice'.
