    Hi Everyone

Only just found this forum today after someone mentioned somersoft at a bbq yesterday and I discovered it had closed.

Looks like an amazing place, Im really keen to learn more about investing. I dont have any investment properties yet but am hoping to buy one or two in the next couple of months.

Looks like I missed the meetup last week, hope to meet some people in the future (once I learn some more of the lingo, dont want to seem like a newbie lol!)

    Cheers
    Andy Sharp

Hi Andy welcome to the forums. Meetups are every few months so there will be another around May I would expect.

Dont worry everyone started as a newbie at some point so just ask questions and read and read and read. Lots of Adelaide people here to assist

    Welcome Andy

Shame you missed our meetup on Wednesday. Was a good night. Very informal chat over a meal and a drink at the pub. Nice way to meet other like minded people and hear about some of the stuff they are doing.

I'm sure there will be another one soon.

Thanks Nemo30. I have a friend who is a lending manager at CBA, he of course suggested using CBA. Their rates seem decent that he gave me, he did say that because I bank with them I get a better rate too?

I'd say rate would be fairly far down the order for investors - need to use lenders in the right order in your portfolio in order to not run out of funds a few properties in.

I'm sure you are in good hands. I have loans with CBA and they've been good so far.

For me, the advantage of a broker goes beyond getting a single loan. A good broker is thinking beyond my current purchase and is looking at my long term goals and how I'm going to get there. That might mean a variety of lenders over time.

They might also have access to reports such as residex or rpdata that can assist you in purchasing.

Welcome to the forum. As has been mentioned above, there are many lenders who have their place for an investor growing a portfolio. Although your friend suggested one particular lender for now, chances are that lender will eventually put up what we call 'the serviceability wall'. This means that based on your income they will not be able to lend you more money. This is where a property savvy broker/strategist can be worth a mint. They will select the lenders in a particular order to enable you go continue to grow your portfolio.
Adelaide has some excellent PMs, two of which have already given replies in @D.T. and @Xenia. Also one of the best brokers in @Corey Batt. Using the most competent professionals in this game can make a world of difference.

    Happy investing :)
