I finally did it this week and it feels amazing. The boss has said he'll keep my job open for a year (which is nice I guess, and gives me options). So finishing in a few weeks and planning to 1) sun myself on amazing inflatable pool thingy with drinks holder for my cocktails 2) climb more hills in Victoria 3) a month in NZ including some ip reno 4) get up late and stay up late generally drinking and being silly 5) explore more options around business/income streams.

    So who's next?

Grats Ellejay, we've been talking about this for a while. Glad you finally 'manned up' :)

The "holiday" to NZ will increase their rents and give you a little more pocket money i guess. What do you think is on the cards in terms of #5? Come to Adel perhaps? :p

Congratulations! It's been just over two years since my last day of work and it still feels great every day.

Ah, I'd love to Dave but I don't think I can borrow any more for Aus properties though the lovely peeps at ANZ NZ may take pity on me again and let me go for an Adelaide venture...you never know! Would love to see you and say hi anyway after all our chats.

About fifteen years dammit! I did it the slow way though, with a break in the middle.

Not much I don't think. I could have taken more risks, but then I've lived through a property crash and for me that dampens the desire for speculation. I've always tried to maximise my income from employment and that's allowed me to enjoy a good lifestyle despite what happens with my investments. I don't make a lot of sacrifices to invest, I try to enjoy today. I've tended to buy cf+ ips that tick along and often do as well in capital gains as some of the major city ips that we hear so much about (except of course where there's a boom). Too busy being happy to think back on what I could have done :)

Bah humbug. Another one gone. They are dropping like flies.

Meanwhile here I am tapping away at work :(

Congratulations. All the best - Nice thinking your biggest challenge will be to master the next cocktail 'just right'.

Can I ask how old you are?

Well done. How many properties do you have and what location are they in if you don't mind me asking?

    Hi Ellejay congrats.

Are you solely living off excess rents or is it a combo of equity/rent?

Also is there a partner working to help the transition?

Sorry if I'm prying - just trying to understand the 'how'.
