They are already here but not in such a big way. (online part of it)
Ambitious plans...I hope they find success...for way too long our retail has been overpriced for what you get (product and service combined) and thus not competitive with global players outside the country.
Competition is a good thing. They won't destroy anything...our retailers will adjust their game accordingly ( and they need to- this is the beauty of entrants into the market).. those who don't adjust might be eaten up or wiped out-and rightly so I'd say.

Why Amazon is set to become a game-changer for Australian shoppers

This will definitely affect my decision with plans on acquiring some commercial property soon.
Will be avoiding retail which will be affected by this.
In the meantime, lots of opportunity to take advantage of joining Amazon to make good profits.

I know there's a lot of businesses in the US selling via Amazon's platform and letting Amazon take care of all the logistics (while others just use Amazon like a marketplace and do fulfilment themselves).

Even some resellers are selling their products via Amazon - it's not just the manufacturers.

    There's still opportunity there.

I think the biggest loser from this entry is likely to be Australia Post.

Unless Amazon use Australia Post for their fulfilment (which means AP had better up their game a LOT!), they are going to destroy the only operator who specialises in small shipments for online fulfilment - Australia Post won't be able to match Amazon's efficiency.

Plenty of times I've ordered stuff online from Australia and it's taken 2-3 weeks to arrive, order stuff from Amazon on Monday and it arrives on my doorstep by Friday. Ridiculous.
