Airbnb and Short term letting - Perth

    Hi all

    Has anyone bought a property in the Perth region for the purpose of Airbnb or short-term letting? How did this go? What areas are best (I am guessing Western suburbs or near water)? Also, what sort of difficulties have you experienced? Do you just check with the council as to whether short-term letting is allowed? I understand with strata it would be more complicated.

    We haven’t tried short term letting before and am wondering if we should look into it further in the future...

    I’ve been doing it for 4 years in Freo. It’s been largely a positive experience.

    Freo council is one of the few LGAs where there is an easy way to get approval to use residential properties for short stay accomodation. I wouldn’t want the headaches of doing it illegally. (Generally planning approval is required).
