Should have been covered in trunking. Bit hard now as the backing section needs to be screwed to the studs and be behind the piping but you could probably fit it behind still but may scrape paint work.

Likewise, I'd suggest Aussie duct but the contractor should have installed it.

It looks like there was trunking. If it was my PPOR, I would move the piping into the wall (unless brick) or move the unit right next to the window when it needs replacement.

Build a timber frame, and sheet it up with plaster (gyprock), fill and paint it.

    There isn't one!!!
I think the previous owner used an extension cord (the powerpoint is on the floor on the opposite wall).

They used some plastic cover (the same type of material which for sale signs are printed on) and instead of the shape being a rectangle with 90 degree angles it was a rhombus shape... So i ripped it off with plans to cover it back up with some thing proper.

Why is it running along the wall in the first place?

I'd like to know the same!
Previous owners were DIY'ers... I could see they knew how to do things, but not properly. Idiots painted water based paint over oil paint.... had to scrape all that off, sand it, undercoat and reapply new paint. So painful.

OMG. I'd be tempted to rip it all down and start again with a professional installation with a power point :)

Run the lead into the wall and into the roof and get a sparky to run a new circuit.

Cover the hoses with channel or bunnings special

Not that one would recommend nor comment on legality / performance but split systems come pre charged with refrigerant and DIY very possible. Looks to be what has happened here.

A sparky is definitely coming in to run a new dedicated circuit for it.

And once the sparky is done, I want some thing to cover it.
Any links as to what these channels or bunnings specials you're referring to?

I did the see link @DaveM linked earlier (Stahl 100mm Air Conditioning Conduit Pipe Cover) - i kinda baulked at the price and figured i could build something cheaper out of MDF.... but im feeling lazy.

You know as well as I do people do stupid crap like this all the time :)
I doubt this was a DIY by the owners, but rather some cheap install through the Bing Lee / Good Guys network of backyard Air Con installers.

But the stuff Davem linked is only $41, don't baulk, just go buy. By the time you buy MDF, cut, paint etc you'll have spent more then $41.
