Agents calling to see if I'm selling. Anybody else having a rash of these calls?

I thought I'd check to see if others in Brisbane are being called by agents recently.

I don't look at a lot of houses. I went to a local auction a month ago and had a call from that agent. I've been to a few places with my son and I know he has had calls from giving out his number.

What interests me more is that I've had probably four calls in the past few weeks from agents who are clearly digging back into their old attendance pages. These are from agents who I contacted when looking for my son this time last year and possibly a little before then.

This usually happens when agents have buyers and not enough stock.

When I tell them I'm neither buying nor selling, they ask if I know anybody who is looking to sell. They are sounding a little desperate for listings.

I'm curious to know if this is something others are getting. It has hotted up over the past month or two.

Wow... I haven't had any door knocking yet. I've just had a sudden update in the contact over the past month or so.

It's called prospecting. Basically a full time job for the top sales agents here.

Yeah... I'm not unaware of this but I'm getting inundated with calls just very recently and because I have an unlisted number, I know these calls are coming from old open houses I've been through.

Nobody rings our home number except hubby's mother so I know when it rings, it is either a real estate agent looking for listings or an automated survey (just since the election was called) and both these types of calls are driving me a little crazy.

I've had friends who are not unlisted say they get calls every night from someone trying to sell something. Thank goodness for unlisted numbers.

You can join the Do Not Call registry. RP data (which is where some agents get numbers from) hides details for those on the registry.

That's been going on for a while,we get about 2 letters a week from real estate agents ,sometimes from private buyers developers,it's been like that for the last few years, they target the double blocks that are already split on the title, but they never say anything about that only,a price and when we can move out..

House nearby cracked the $1M recently.
The following week was an agent frenzy.

Our details are private on that site, but I'm more interested in the amount of calls I'm getting and what that means for the Brisbane market.

No, no ones details are private. It says the occupants details for just about every property. It will specify if they're on Do Not Call or Do Not Write registers though.

Wylie do you have any properties in SA that you are considering selling this year?

Can I help you with an obligation free sale appraisal?

I mean we have a "do not call" mark against our number. They are calling off open house sheets.

Yep, Coronis are the main culprits for me. I reckon I get a call at least once a week. I told them to stop calling me, but that didn't work.. :-(

Wylie, I'm the same. Had an agent from Coorparoo call me couple of weeks ago "I hear you're looking to sell". Um No.

Since I don't even own a house in coorparoo, it must be open inspection attendance lists (although this would have been from 2014.....).

I've had about half a dozen calls but they are from opens that I've attended 6 months ago and they're calling to see if I'm still in the market looking. Indicates to me that the market may be slowing..1) They're looking for buyers and 2) probably more importantly, they actually have time to make the calls. 6-12 months ago any agent with half an idea didn't have time to waste following up old enquiries and cleaning their database.

Not sure what it's like on the ground but I'll soon find out, about to start flying up again to do the rounds. I did enquire on a property in Stafford Heights last week. Sold before it the websites.

That is another take on it, that things might be slowing. I assumed it was the reverse and they needed properties to sell. Mostly I've been asked if I'm selling, not if I'm still looking to buy.

I know people renting near us had trouble buying, with multiple offers going in and missing out, but finally they got lucky. I only keep tabs on very local area though.

Getting a lot of follow up calls per property we've inspected plus the text messages about next opens etc. (Inner west).

Had a lot of can we sell for you letters and calls last year about our northside place.
