    That is kind of an important bit of information which you didn't mention initially.

    Does he have any ownership claim over the property via inheritance?

    Was he a dependant of the deceased?

    <sigh> Yes. I had hoped to avoid discussing irrelevant personal details.

    The lawyer said it wasn't certain that he had an implied lease. He wanted to be paid to send him letters but I had a different plan which he admitted could work. If I just locked him out, changed the locks, returned his property, and sold the place quickly, there probably wouldn't be much he could do. He'd have to apply to ACAT for his "lease" to be recognized and it would be likely I'd have finalized the estate and retreated interstate by that time.
